(WITN) &#8211; A revitalization effort to a Craven County main street is gaining national attention for a job well done.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The City of New Bern has announced it again has earned the Main Street America Accreditation for 2026 for its downtown revitalization efforts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">According to the release, the accreditation is to recognize communities that demonstrate excellence in economic preservation, downtown revitalization, and community engagement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThis recognition reflects the dedication of our downtown businesses, property owners, volunteers, community partners, and local leaders who work together every day to keep downtown New Bern vibrant and thriving,\u201d said Karen Sullivan, executive director of Swiss Bear, Inc.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The city\u2019s revitalization project has been led by Swiss Bear since 1979. It aims to continue to grow and sustain an engaged and lively downtown New Bern.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">New Bern is one of 49 communities in North Carolina to receive the designation this year.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 WITN.
