Dustin Scott Alred(Geneva Police Department)<\/p>\nGENEVA, Ala. (WTVY) – A man is facing several charges related to stolen property acquired from a string of car break-ins in Geneva.<\/p>\n
Dustin Scott Alred is charged with one count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, six counts of identity theft, five counts of illegal possession of debit cards and one county of certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm.<\/p>\n

The Geneva Police Department was notified Wednesday of these break-ins, which happened at several different locations along the north side of the city.<\/p>\n
Quick investigative work by officers working the case were able to identity common pieces of evidence at each scene and eventually they were able to find a lead that pointed them to a home in the 300 block of West Campbell Avenue.<\/p>\n
After gaining cooperation from the homeowner, officers searched the home and were able to recover not illegal drugs and a firearm, but also several items that they could confirm belonged to victims in each of the car break-ins.<\/p>\n
Alred, who was confirmed as a suspect in the break-ins by police, was arrested, and within two hours from the first report, officers were able to recover most of the items stolen.<\/p>\n
Alred is currently being held in the Geneva County Jail and is awaiting his first appearance in front of a judge.<\/p>\n
GPD added that more charges are pending as the investigation into these break-ins continues, and that additional suspects are being sought.<\/p>\n
