NEW BERN, N.C. (WITN) – An AMBER Alert was issued Saturday morning for a child abduction out of New Bern.<\/p>\n
Around 3:15 a.m., New Bern police responded to a report of a child abduction at the Palace Motel located at 1901 MLK Boulevard.<\/p>\n
Upon arrival, officers say 45-year-old Lacathy Britt told them she, 46-year-old Larry Tompkins, and her sons, 13-year-old Kenneth Brantley, Jr. and 15-year-old Isaiah Owens, had been asleep in their hotel room when they were awakened by banging on their door. <\/p>\n
Tompkins opened the door and encountered multiple people, including the father of Kenneth, 44-year-old Kenneth Brantley, Sr. <\/p>\n
Britt stated that Brantley, Sr. pointed a gun at Tompkins then took his son and Isaiah Owens from the room. <\/p>\n
Police say he left the area in a black 2012 GMC Yukon Denali XL. The vehicle has a South Carolina license plate of XFH752. <\/p>\n
Brantley Sr. may be traveling to his home in Marion, South Carolina. A BOLO (Be On the Lookout) has been issued for the vehicle, according to police.<\/p>\n
Currently, officers have arrest warrants for Brantley, Sr. for the abduction and endangerment of Isaiah Owens.<\/p>\n
Owens is a 15-year-old black male with black hair and brown eyes. He is approximately 5\u20324\u201d tall and weighs 100 pounds, according to officials. He was last seen wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and red and blue sneakers.<\/p>\n
The New Bern Police Department is actively working with local, state, out-of-state and federal agencies to locate the child and ensure his safe return. <\/p>\n
