{"id":9332,"date":"2026-02-16T17:58:51","date_gmt":"2026-02-16T17:58:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ch\/9332\/"},"modified":"2026-02-16T17:58:51","modified_gmt":"2026-02-16T17:58:51","slug":"limmathaus-zurich","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ch\/9332\/","title":{"rendered":"Limmathaus, Z\u00fcrich"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The competition \u2013 organised by Impact Hub Z\u00fcrich \u2013 will select a studio or collective to help co-design a new \u2018vibrant place of encounter for citizens\u2019 within the 1930s complex which is planned for a major renovation.<\/p>\n<p>The 3,000m\u00b2 project \u2013 planned to complete in 2029 \u2013 will transform the building into a \u2018vibrant hub for connection, collaboration, and events.\u2019 The winning team will create a new 1,000m\u00b2 gastronomy area with 600m\u00b2 garden, a 700m\u00b2 events space and 2,000m\u00b2 of offices.<\/p>\n<p>According to the brief: \u2018The renovated Limmathaus will be about fresh ideas, bold action, and meaningful conversations. Impact Hub Z\u00fcrich is taking over the iconic Limmathaus \u2014 a 1931 gem of modern architecture \u2014 and turning it into a vibrant hub for connection, collaboration, and events, all centered around sustainability and positive change.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018It will host a restaurant, bar, club events, concerts, art exhibitions, coworking spaces, political panels, neighbourhood gatherings, pop-ups, dance classes, and more\u2014almost around the clock. The opening will be in 2029, major general and indispensable renovations happen in the meantime.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Limmathaus is a Bahaus style building which was constructed in 1931 and serves as an important cultural venue for Z\u00fcrich. The building was originally intended as a community space for social encounters \u2013 featuring a restaurant and post office.<\/p>\n<p>The latest project aims to fully open up the building so it can provide a restaurant and bar, club events and concerts, and exhibitions. Key upgrades will include the introduction of new co-working office spaces, relocating the main entrance and transforming a former cloakroom into an events space.<\/p>\n<p>Round one applications should include up to five project and client references, a written explanation of approach and values, a short introduction video and links to a website or social media pages. Applications may be in English or German.<\/p>\n<p>Up to six shortlisted teams will each be paid \u20ac3,500 to participate in the second round of the contest during which concept proposals will be drawn up in time for a June deadline.
