This affects Switzerland and 11 other countries.<\/p>\n<p>From July 1, the EU will implement stricter protective measures on steel. Duty-free import quotas will be reduced by 47% to 18.3 million tonnes per year. Imports will be subject to a 50% tariff \u2013 up from 25%.<\/p>\n<p>The countries of the European Economic Area (EEA) \u2013 Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein \u2013 are exempt from the measure.
