KINSTON, Ala. (WTVY) -A 5-year-old child drowned in a residential swimming pool early Saturday in the Kinston area, Geneva County Coroner Donnie Adkinson said.<\/p>\n
Paramedics took the child to a hospital in Opp, Alabama, but efforts to save the child were unsuccessful. An autopsy will be performed.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a heart-breaking tragedy,\u201d Adkinson said. \u201cAs families enjoy the holiday weekend, I encourage everyone to pay special attention to children, especially around pools, ponds, lakes, and other bodies of water.\u201d<\/p>\n
Adkinson did not release the child\u2019s name.<\/p>\n
