Kathmandu. Russia has carried out drone attacks in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, for the fourth consecutive day. In this process, the Russian army has targeted two main bridges of the city, which are considered important for millions of vehicles.

Two people were injured in the attack on the Pivnichny (Northern) bridge on Sunday morning, the second consecutive day of attacks on this bridge. Earlier, the Pivdenny (Southern) bridge was also attacked several times last week. In Friday’s attack, Russian drones targeted the cables of the bridge, and after the attack, a large pothole formed on one lane of the bridge, disrupting traffic.

Approximately five million vehicles travel daily through these two bridges. Despite the attacks, both bridges are still standing, but due to damage and traffic restrictions, severe traffic jams have occurred on various roads in the capital.

This latest attack occurred as German Chancellor Friedrich Merz made an unexpected visit to Kyiv to express solidarity with Ukraine.

The Russian army claims that the two bridges were targeted because they are used for the movement of Ukrainian soldiers. Russia has also stated that it will intensify attacks in other areas of Ukraine, including Kyiv.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia had launched a total of 135 drones, including 52 jet-engine drones, overnight. Ukraine claims to have foiled 125 of these drones and other aerial attacks.

Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated on Sunday that it would intensify attacks across Ukraine. The ministry mentioned that this step was taken in response to President Zelensky’s statement about Ukraine increasing attacks on Russia’s oil refineries.
