Tentokr\u00e1t ale p\u0159ece jen v\u00fdjime\u010dn\u00fdm zp\u016fsobem.<\/p>\n<p class=\"e_bX\">Ledovec se dostal do pop\u0159ed\u00ed glob\u00e1ln\u00ed pozornosti kv\u016fli poznatk\u016fm o\u00a0jeho zranitelnosti v\u00a0posledn\u00edch zhruba patn\u00e1cti letech a\u00a0p\u0159ibli\u017en\u011b stejn\u011b dlouho se mu p\u0159ezd\u00edv\u00e1 Ledovec soudn\u00e9ho dne. Od t\u00e9 doby cel\u00fd sv\u011bt sleduje ka\u017ed\u00fd nov\u00fd objev, kter\u00fd o\u00a0n\u011bm v\u011bdci u\u010din\u00ed. Nov\u00e9 poznatky p\u0159itom p\u0159ich\u00e1zej\u00ed prakticky rok co rok a\u00a0v\u011bt\u0161inou obavy je\u0161t\u011b prohlubuj\u00ed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"e_bX\">P\u0159ezd\u00edvka vznikla kv\u016fli tomu, \u017ee ledovci hroz\u00ed \u201en\u00e1hl\u00fd\u201c kolaps, kter\u00fd m\u016f\u017ee zp\u016fsobit rychlej\u0161\u00ed stoup\u00e1n\u00ed glob\u00e1ln\u00ed mo\u0159sk\u00e9 hladiny, ne\u017e jak\u00e1 se obecn\u011b o\u010dek\u00e1v\u00e1. S\u00e1m o\u00a0sob\u011b m\u00e1 dost ledu na zv\u00fd\u0161en\u00ed glob\u00e1ln\u00ed hladiny o\u00a0asi 65\u00a0centimetr\u016f a\u00a0z\u00e1rove\u0148 pravd\u011bpodobn\u011b funguje jako opora pro cel\u00fd Z\u00e1padoantarktick\u00fd ledovcov\u00fd p\u0159\u00edkrov, kde je dost ledu na\u00a0zvednut\u00ed hladiny dokonce o\u00a0gigantick\u00fdch 3,3\u00a0metru.<\/p>\n<p class=\"e_bX\">Slovo n\u00e1hle jsme ale dali do uvozovek proto, \u017ee n\u00e1hl\u00fd je kolaps m\u011b\u0159\u00edtkem glaciolog\u016f a\u00a0geolog\u016f, a\u00a0nikoliv laick\u00fdm pohledem. V\u011bdci p\u0159edpokl\u00e1daj\u00ed, \u017ee a\u017e na n\u011bj dojde, \u00fapln\u00fd rozpad nebude z\u00e1le\u017eitost nejen n\u011bkolika let, ale nejsp\u00ed\u0161 ani n\u011bkolika dek\u00e1d, a\u00a0nav\u00edc nic takov\u00e9ho ne\u010dekaj\u00ed v\u00a0tomto stolet\u00ed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"e_bX\">Kdy\u017e se tedy objev\u00ed n\u011bco nov\u00e9ho o\u00a0Thwaitesov\u011b ledovci, v\u011bt\u0161inou jde o\u00a0informace o\u00a0d\u00edl\u010d\u00edch posunech (nap\u0159. v\u00a0tempu t\u00e1n\u00ed atd.) nebo o\u00a0pravd\u011bpodobn\u00e9m d\u011bn\u00ed v\u00a0hodn\u011b vzd\u00e1len\u00e9 budoucnosti. Te\u010f se ale najednou mluv\u00ed o\u00a0tom, \u017ee jeho v\u00fdchodn\u00ed okraj enormn\u011b rychle prask\u00e1 a\u00a0dost mo\u017en\u00e1 se \u201enedo\u017eije\u201c konce roku.<\/p>\n<p class=\"e_bX\">Co \u017ee se to tedy p\u0159esn\u011b s\u00a0ledovcem o\u00a0rozloze 170\u00a0tis\u00edc kilometr\u016f \u010dtvere\u010dn\u00edch (v\u00edce ne\u017e dvojn\u00e1sobek rozlohy \u010ceska) a\u00a0tlou\u0161\u0165ce stovek metr\u016f (v nejtlust\u0161\u00edm m\u00edst\u011b dokonce dva kilometry) d\u011bje?<\/p>\n<p><a data-dot=\"mol-article-card-media\" aria-hidden=\"true\" tabindex=\"-1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.seznamzpravy.cz\/clanek\/zahranicni-kdo-zaplati-za-klima-svet-dostal-novou-paku-na-fosilni-staty-306927\" class=\"e_n f_lW\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" height=\"1562\"   width=\"2778\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/1780483155_950_vanuatu-oceanie-pacifik.jpeg\" loading=\"eager\" decoding=\"sync\" class=\"e_aa e_Z\"\/><\/a>Okraj ledovce se m\u016f\u017ee rozpadnout klidn\u011b u\u017e z\u00edtra<\/p>\n<p class=\"e_bX\">Odpov\u011b\u010f nen\u00ed jednoduch\u00e1. Na jednu stranu se toti\u017e d\u011bje pom\u011brn\u011b z\u00e1sadn\u00ed v\u011bc, z\u00a0hlediska zvy\u0161ov\u00e1n\u00ed mo\u0159sk\u00e9 hladiny na n\u00ed ale na druhou stranu vlastn\u011b u\u017e moc nez\u00e1le\u017e\u00ed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"e_bX\">Drama se t\u00fdk\u00e1 specificky Thwaitesova v\u00fdchodn\u00edho ledovcov\u00e9ho \u0161elfu (TEIS). Jde o\u00a0okrajovou \u010d\u00e1st ledovce, kter\u00e1 je sice spojen\u00e1 s\u00a0jeho hlavn\u00ed \u010d\u00e1st\u00ed, ale ne s\u00a0pevn\u00fdm podlo\u017e\u00edm, tak\u017ee u\u017e pluje po vod\u011b. M\u00e1 rozlohu asi 1500\u00a0kilometr\u016f \u010dtvere\u010dn\u00edch (to je zhruba trojn\u00e1sobek rozlohy Prahy), co\u017e je m\u00e9n\u011b ne\u017e setina rozlohy cel\u00e9ho ledovce. <\/p>\n<p><img height=\"1024\"   width=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/teis.jpeg\" loading=\"eager\" decoding=\"sync\" class=\"e_aa e_Z\"\/>Foto: ESA<\/p>\n<p class=\"e_bX\">Sn\u00edmek je z\u00a0roku 2019, to znamen\u00e1, \u017ee linie ukotven\u00ed je touto dobou u\u017e o\u00a0n\u011bkolik kilometr\u016f d\u00e1l.<\/p>\n<p class=\"e_bX\">V\u011bdci na jeho pravd\u011bpodobn\u00fd rozpad v\u00a0dohledn\u00e9 budoucnosti <a data-dot=\"atm-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/science-environment-59644494\" class=\"e_n\">upozornili<\/a> u\u017e v\u00a0roce 2021, kdy odhadovali, \u017ee k\u00a0n\u011bmu dojde n\u011bkdy v\u00a0rozmez\u00ed p\u011bti a\u017e deseti let. Te\u010f se ale \u0161elf podle nich dostal do f\u00e1ze, kdy rozpad hroz\u00ed zcela bezprost\u0159edn\u011b.<\/p>\n<p class=\"e_bX\">Podle \u0161\u00e9fa Britsk\u00e9ho antarktick\u00e9ho v\u00fdzkumu (BAS) <a data-dot=\"atm-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bas.ac.uk\/profile\/rdla\/\" class=\"e_n\">Roberta Lartera<\/a> k\u00a0tomu \u201evelmi pravd\u011bpodobn\u011b\u201c dojde u\u017e letos, proto\u017ee \u0161elf je u\u017e n\u011bjakou dobu ve vysoce destabilizovan\u00e9m stavu a\u00a0nad\u00e1le rychle prask\u00e1. Kdy p\u0159esn\u011b se rozpad odehraje, ale p\u0159edpov\u011bd\u011bt nelze a\u00a0nen\u00ed vylou\u010deno, \u017ee se termin\u00e1ln\u00ed f\u00e1ze existence \u0161elfu je\u0161t\u011b o\u00a0n\u011bco prot\u00e1hne.<\/p>\n<p class=\"e_bX\">\u201eNep\u0159ekvapilo by m\u011b, kdyby u\u017e dal\u0161\u00ed v\u00e1rka satelitn\u00edch sn\u00edmk\u016f uk\u00e1zala rozpad \u0161elfu, z\u00e1rove\u0148 ale nem\u016f\u017eu vylou\u010dit, \u017ee budu na tuto ot\u00e1zku odpov\u00eddat stejn\u00fdmi slovy je\u0161t\u011b za rok,\u201c <a data-dot=\"atm-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.newscientist.com\/article\/2526826-the-doomsday-glaciers-giant-ice-shelf-is-about-to-break-away\/\" class=\"e_n\">\u0159ekl<\/a> Larter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"e_bX\">Jeho kolegov\u00e9 aktu\u00e1ln\u00ed stav \u0161elfu popisuj\u00ed jako \u201evoln\u00fd p\u00e1d\u201c. Tempo pohybu ledu se mezi rokem 2020\u00a0a\u00a02026\u00a0ztrojn\u00e1sobilo a\u00a0i letos d\u00e1l zrychluje. Rychle se tak\u00e9 objevuj\u00ed nov\u00e9 trhliny p\u0159\u00edmo u\u00a0tzv. linie ukotven\u00ed, co\u017e je m\u00edsto, kde kon\u010d\u00ed \u0161elf a\u00a0za\u010d\u00edn\u00e1 \u201eprav\u00fd\u201c ledovec, \u010di jin\u00fdmi slovy okraj plochy ledovce, kter\u00e1 je\u0161t\u011b sed\u00ed na pevn\u00e9m podlo\u017e\u00ed.<\/p>\n<p><img height=\"1127\"   width=\"1301\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/self.jpeg\" loading=\"eager\" decoding=\"sync\" class=\"e_aa e_Z\"\/>Foto: NSIDC, NASA<\/p>\n<p class=\"e_bX\">Kde kon\u010d\u00ed ledovec a\u00a0za\u010d\u00edn\u00e1 \u0161elfov\u00fd ledovec?<\/p>\n<p class=\"e_bX\">V\u011bdkyn\u011b a\u00a0v\u011bdci z\u00a0BAS, kte\u0159\u00ed zm\u011bny pozoruj\u00ed na satelitn\u00edch sn\u00edmc\u00edch, \u0161elf pr\u00fd u\u017e v\u00a0podstat\u011b \u201eodepsali\u201c a\u00a0dop\u0159edu sepsali jeho \u201enekrolog\u201c, tedy speci\u00e1ln\u00ed tiskovou zpr\u00e1vu se v\u0161emi d\u016fle\u017eit\u00fdmi informacemi, kterou vydaj\u00ed, a\u017e k\u00a0uvoln\u011bn\u00ed ob\u0159\u00edch kus\u016f ledu dojde.<\/p>\n<p class=\"e_bX\">Co ale fin\u00e1ln\u00ed rozpad vlastn\u011b bude znamenat?<\/p>\n<p>P\u0159\u00edm\u00e9 d\u016fsledky nebudou dramatick\u00e9, ale\u2026<\/p>\n<p class=\"e_bX\">Pro v\u011bdce jde nepochybn\u011b o\u00a0historick\u00fd miln\u00edk. A\u017e do roku 2021\u00a0se mluvilo o\u00a0tom, \u017ee \u0161elf se pravd\u011bpodobn\u011b rozpadne a\u017e v\u00a0\u0159\u00e1du p\u0159\u00ed\u0161t\u00edch dek\u00e1d. <\/p>\n<p class=\"e_bX\">Je\u0161t\u011b ned\u00e1vno se tak\u00e9 experti ob\u00e1vali, \u017ee ztr\u00e1ta \u0161elfu by mohla m\u00edt i\u00a0z\u00e1va\u017en\u00e9 d\u016fsledky na zvy\u0161ov\u00e1n\u00ed mo\u0159sk\u00e9 hladiny. A\u00a0to i\u00a0p\u0159esto, \u017ee led p\u0159\u00edmo z\u00a0n\u011bj u\u017e plave na vod\u011b, tak\u017ee jeho uvoln\u011bn\u00ed a\u00a0t\u00e1n\u00ed hladinu zv\u00fd\u0161it nem\u016f\u017ee (stejn\u011b jako rozt\u00e1t\u00ed kostky ledu ve vod\u011b).<\/p>\n<p class=\"e_bX\">\u0160elfov\u00e9 ledovce ale typicky, zjednodu\u0161en\u011b \u0159e\u010deno, \u201echr\u00e1n\u00ed\u201c hlavn\u00ed \u010d\u00e1sti ledovc\u016f le\u017e\u00edc\u00edch na pevnin\u011b, zejm\u00e9na p\u0159ed rychlej\u0161\u00edm sklouz\u00e1v\u00e1n\u00edm do mo\u0159e. Kdy\u017e se tak p\u0159ed p\u011bti lety p\u0159i\u0161lo na to, \u017ee TEIS u\u017e vydr\u017e\u00ed jen roky, a\u00a0ne dek\u00e1dy, mluvilo se o\u00a0tom, \u017ee cel\u00fd Thwaites\u016fv ledovec m\u016f\u017ee p\u0159ej\u00edt do \u201enov\u00e9ho re\u017eimu\u201c a\u00a0zrychlit proces \u00fastupu.<\/p>\n<p class=\"e_bX\">Nyn\u00ed u\u017e ale v\u011bdci znaj\u00ed op\u011bt v\u00edce informac\u00ed a\u00a0dat a\u00a0tvrd\u00ed, \u017ee se to nestane\u00a0\u2013 jde o\u00a0z\u00e1v\u011br zat\u00edm nepublikovan\u00e9 studie, na kterou jej\u00ed auto\u0159i pod tlakem okolnost\u00ed upozor\u0148uj\u00ed p\u0159edem, ve snaze co nejl\u00e9pe vysv\u011btlit mo\u017en\u00e9 d\u016fsledky rozpadu TEIS. <\/p>\n<p class=\"e_bX\">Toto zji\u0161t\u011bn\u00ed je ale ve skute\u010dnosti o\u00a0hodn\u011b m\u00e9n\u011b uklid\u0148uj\u00edc\u00ed, ne\u017e se na prvn\u00ed pohled zd\u00e1. Rozpad TEIS toti\u017e hroucen\u00ed Thwaitesova ledovce neurychl\u00ed nejsp\u00ed\u0161 jenom kv\u016fli tomu, \u017ee funkci \u201ebrzdy\u201c u\u017e ztratil.<\/p>\n<p class=\"e_bX\">\u201eV tuto chv\u00edli u\u017e \u0161elf proud ledu nezpomaluje v\u016fbec, nebo jen velmi m\u00e1lo. Mezit\u00edm, co v\u00a0posledn\u00edch letech sl\u00e1bl, nicm\u00e9n\u011b doch\u00e1zelo ke\u00a0zrychlen\u00ed toku ledu, co\u017e indikuje, \u017ee je\u0161t\u011b ned\u00e1vno n\u011bjakou brzd\u00edc\u00ed funkci m\u011bl,\u201c \u0159ekl k\u00a0tomu Seznam Zpr\u00e1v\u00e1m Larter. Krom\u011b toho podle v\u011bdce \u0161elf nejsp\u00ed\u0161 m\u011bl i\u00a0n\u011bjakou ochrannou funkci ve smyslu, \u017ee tvo\u0159il bari\u00e9ru mezi ledovcem a\u00a0oce\u00e1nem. Jestli toto bude m\u00edt vliv\u00a0\u2013 a\u00a0jak velk\u00fd p\u0159\u00edpadn\u011b bude\u00a0\u2013, se nicm\u00e9n\u011b ned\u00e1 odhadnout, proto\u017ee to bude z\u00e1le\u017eet na tom, jak p\u0159esn\u011b se \u0161elf od ledovce odlom\u00ed. <\/p>\n<p>O co tedy jde?<\/p>\n<p class=\"e_bX\">Zvy\u0161ov\u00e1n\u00ed mo\u0159sk\u00e9 hladiny tedy kv\u016fli kolapsu TEIS t\u00e9m\u011b\u0159 ur\u010dit\u011b n\u00e1hle nezrychl\u00ed. P\u016fjde sp\u00ed\u0161 o\u00a0spektakul\u00e1rn\u00ed p\u0159ipom\u00ednku sv\u011btu, jak\u00e9 riziko Thwaites p\u0159edstavuje a\u00a0\u017ee toto nebezpe\u010d\u00ed je kv\u016fli pokra\u010duj\u00edc\u00ed zm\u011bn\u011b klimatu \u010d\u00edm d\u00e1l bl\u00ed\u017e.<\/p>\n<p class=\"e_bX\">Moment\u00e1ln\u011b ledovec ke\u00a0zvy\u0161ov\u00e1n\u00ed glob\u00e1ln\u00ed mo\u0159sk\u00e9 hladiny p\u0159isp\u00edv\u00e1 jen ze 4\u00a0%. Podle nejnov\u011bj\u0161\u00ed <a data-dot=\"atm-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/10.1029\/2025GL118823\" class=\"e_n\">studie<\/a> z\u00a0leto\u0161n\u00edho b\u0159ezna se objem uvol\u0148ovan\u00e9ho ledu m\u016f\u017ee do roku 2067\u00a0zv\u00fd\u0161it i\u00a0v\u00edc ne\u017e trojn\u00e1sobn\u011b na asi 190\u00a0gigatun ledu ro\u010dn\u011b, co\u017e by odpov\u00eddalo sou\u010dasn\u00e9mu mno\u017estv\u00ed, kter\u00e9 moment\u00e1ln\u011b ro\u010dn\u011b odt\u00e9k\u00e1 z\u00a0cel\u00e9 Antarktidy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"e_bX\">Studie tak\u00e9 uk\u00e1zala, \u017ee p\u0159i vyu\u017eit\u00ed jin\u00e9 a\u00a0retrospektivn\u011b m\u00e9n\u011b p\u0159esn\u00e9 metody, by projekce t\u00e1n\u00ed vy\u0161la podstatn\u011b ni\u017e\u0161\u00ed, co\u017e n\u00e1s p\u0159iv\u00e1d\u00ed k\u00a0t\u00e9matu nejistoty. To je p\u0159itom z\u00e1sadn\u00ed a\u00a0\u00fazce spojen\u00e9 s\u00a0hlavn\u00edm sd\u011blen\u00edm aktu\u00e1ln\u00edho d\u011bn\u00ed kolem TEIS.<\/p>\n<p class=\"e_bX\">Dojde-li toti\u017e k\u00a0rozpadu \u0161elfu v\u00a0brzk\u00e9 dob\u011b, bude to mimo jin\u00e9 jasn\u00e9 potvrzen\u00ed, \u017ee i\u00a0v modern\u00ed dob\u011b lze stabilitu ledovcov\u00fdch \u00fatvar\u016f snadno p\u0159ece\u0148ovat a\u00a0jejich zranitelnost p\u0159ehl\u00ed\u017eet t\u00e9m\u011b\u0159 a\u017e do posledn\u00ed chv\u00edle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"e_bX\">Pokud jde o\u00a0Thwaites\u016fv ledovec jako celek, je p\u0159itom nejistota skute\u010dn\u011b obrovsk\u00e1. Jak u\u017e jsme nast\u00ednili v\u00a0\u00favodu anal\u00fdzy, nikdo sice ne\u0159\u00edk\u00e1, \u017ee se ledovec m\u016f\u017ee cel\u00fd najednou v\u00a0dohledn\u00e9 dob\u011b rozpadnout, nicm\u00e9n\u011b st\u00e1le hroz\u00ed, \u017ee a\u017e se rozpadat za\u010dne, zvy\u0161ov\u00e1n\u00ed mo\u0159sk\u00e9 hladiny se citeln\u011b zv\u00fd\u0161\u00ed nad r\u00e1mec sou\u010dasn\u00fdch o\u010dek\u00e1v\u00e1n\u00ed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"e_bX\">Zmi\u0148ovan\u00e1 \u201est\u0159edov\u00e1\u201c predikce zv\u00fd\u0161en\u00ed mo\u0159sk\u00e9 hladiny n\u011bkde kolem 50\u00a0cm do roku 2100\u00a0podle posledn\u00ed hodnot\u00edc\u00ed zpr\u00e1vy IPCC toti\u017e stoj\u00ed na p\u0159edpokladu, \u017ee proces bude pokra\u010dovat postupn\u011b a\u00a0p\u0159\u00edmo \u00fam\u011brn\u011b oteplen\u00ed a\u00a0k \u017e\u00e1dn\u00e9mu v\u011bt\u0161\u00edmu kolapsu ledovc\u016f nedojde. <\/p>\n<p class=\"e_bX\">Podle Lartera se m\u016f\u017eeme v\u00edcem\u00e9n\u011b spolehnout, \u017ee tyto projekce jsou spolehliv\u00e9 pro n\u011bkolik dal\u0161\u00edch dek\u00e1d, ale pak u\u017e se nejistota rapidn\u011b zvy\u0161uje. Obzvl\u00e1\u0161\u0165 vysok\u00e1 je nep\u0159ekvapiv\u011b zejm\u00e9na pro\u00a0dal\u0161\u00ed stolet\u00ed, kdy nevyhnuteln\u011b dojde k\u00a0nejv\u011bt\u0161\u00edmu n\u00e1r\u016fstu hladiny, ale u\u017e p\u0159ed rokem 2100\u00a0se podle v\u011bdce m\u016f\u017ee st\u00e1t, \u017ee tempo se \u201ene\u010dekan\u011b\u201c v\u00fdznamn\u011b zrychl\u00ed. Pak v\u00a0nich je ale v\u00edc ne\u017e 200\u00a0let dlouh\u00e1 pauza. Cook\u016fv rekord toti\u017e p\u0159ekonal americk\u00fd ledoborec a\u017e v\u00a0roce 1985.<\/p>\n<p class=\"e_bX\">Na jeho palub\u011b byl i\u00a0<a data-dot=\"atm-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.igsoc.org\/terrence-joseph-terry-hughes-1938-2018\" class=\"e_n\">Terry Hughes<\/a>, prvn\u00ed v\u011bdec, kter\u00fd u\u017e v\u00a070.\u00a0letech za\u010dal tu\u0161it, \u017ee by Antarktida mohla b\u00fdt v\u016f\u010di zm\u011bn\u011b klimatu zraniteln\u011bj\u0161\u00ed, ne\u017e se zd\u00e1.
