O deset let pozd\u011bji vyu\u017eil stejn\u00fd koncept k vytvo\u0159en\u00ed osmi-, dvan\u00e1cti- a \u0161estn\u00e1ctiv\u00e1lcov\u00fdch motor\u016f.<\/p>\n<p>Prakticky po celou dobu existence automobilu bojovali jeho tv\u016frci v\u00edce \u010di m\u00e9n\u011b s prostorem pro ulo\u017een\u00e9 hnac\u00ed jednotky. Kdy\u017e na p\u0159elomu 60. a 70. let vyv\u00edjeli Francouzi spolu se \u0160v\u00e9dy zn\u00e1m\u00fd motor PRV (Peugeot Renault Volvo), p\u016fvodn\u011b pracovali na vidlicov\u00e9m osmiv\u00e1lci. A zat\u00edmco u Volva a Peugeotu s t\u00edm probl\u00e9m nebyl, jeliko\u017e vozy t\u011bchto zna\u010dek m\u011bly klasickou koncepci s pohonem zadn\u00ed n\u00e1pravy, u firmy Renault m\u011bli probl\u00e9m.<\/p>\n<p>Jak zastav\u011bt osmiv\u00e1lec pod kapotu model Renault 30, pro kter\u00e9 byl zam\u00fd\u0161len, kdy\u017e maj\u00ed pohon p\u0159edn\u00edch kol? P\u0159itom R30 m\u00e1 motor ulo\u017een\u00fd vp\u0159edu pod\u00e9ln\u011b. P\u0159esto se V8 do jeho p\u0159\u00edd\u011b neve\u0161el. On by se mo\u017en\u00e1 i ve\u0161el, jen\u017ee v 70. letech se u\u017e \u0159e\u0161ila pasivn\u00ed bezpe\u010dnost a v\u0161echna nov\u00e1 auta musela b\u00fdt vybavena p\u0159edn\u00ed deforma\u010dn\u00ed z\u00f3nou. A to znamenalo m\u00edt p\u0159ed motorem n\u011bjak\u00e9 m\u00edsto. Tuh\u00fd agreg\u00e1t s\u00e1m o sob\u011b byl pro to velkou p\u0159ek\u00e1\u017ekou. Pro Volkswagen Golf III tak bylo rozhodnuto nab\u00eddnout alternativn\u011b tak\u00e9 \u0161estiv\u00e1lcov\u00fd motor, co\u017e bylo v t\u00e9 dob\u011b v kompaktn\u00ed t\u0159\u00edd\u011b unikum (ve stejn\u00e9m roce ale Mazda uvedla motor 1.8 V6 v kup\u00e9 MX-3, co\u017e byl tak\u00e9 kompakt). Aby se motor o objemu 2,8 nebo 2,9 litru spolu s p\u0159evodovkou ve\u0161el nap\u0159\u00ed\u010d p\u0159ed p\u0159edn\u00ed poh\u00e1n\u011bnou n\u00e1pravu, bylo t\u0159eba ud\u011blat jej co mo\u017en\u00e1 nejkompaktn\u011bj\u0161\u00ed. U VW si vzpomn\u011bli, \u017ee kdysi Lancia vyr\u00e1b\u011bla vidlicov\u00e9 motory s \u00fazk\u00fdm rozev\u0159en\u00edm \u0159ad v\u00e1lc\u016f. Rozhodli se tak opr\u00e1\u0161it p\u016fvodn\u011b italsk\u00fd koncept a v\u00fdsledkem byl motor VR6.<\/p>\n<p>Ob\u011b \u0159ady v\u00e1lc\u016f sv\u00edraly ostr\u00fd \u00fahel 15 stup\u0148\u016f, tak\u017ee osy soum\u011brnosti v\u00e1lcov\u00fdch jednotek se prot\u00ednaly pod klikov\u00fdm h\u0159\u00eddelem. V bloku byly v\u00e1lce um\u00edst\u011bny \u201ecik-cak\u201c a z\u00e1rove\u0148 si motor vysta\u010dil pouze s jednou hlavou.<\/p>\n<p>Dva v jednom<\/p>\n<p>Koncem 90. let m\u011bl Volkswagen velk\u00e9 pl\u00e1ny, jejich\u017e sou\u010d\u00e1st\u00ed byly luxusn\u00ed auta, stejn\u011b jako supersportovn\u00ed vozy p\u0159evzat\u00e9 zna\u010dky Bugatti. Oboje pot\u0159ebovalo nov\u00e9 pokud mo\u017eno v\u00edcev\u00e1lcov\u00e9 motory. Volkswagen tak na za\u010d\u00e1tku mil\u00e9nia p\u0159edstavil nezvykl\u00e9 agreg\u00e1ty s uspo\u0159\u00e1d\u00e1n\u00edm v\u00e1lc\u016f do tvaru p\u00edsmene W. Z\u00e1hy tak vznikl osmiv\u00e1lec, dvan\u00e1ctiv\u00e1lec a dokonce tak\u00e9 \u0161estn\u00e1ctiv\u00e1lec. Posledn\u011b jmenovan\u00fd byl vyhrazen\u00fd pro pohon hypersportu Bugatti Veyron.<\/p>\n<p>P\u0159i konstrukci motor\u016f s v\u00e1lci uspo\u0159\u00e1dan\u00fdmi do W se vy\u0161lo z p\u016fvodn\u00edho motoru VR6. \u0160lo o modul\u00e1rn\u00ed motory. Teoreticky nejsnaz\u0161\u00ed bylo vytvo\u0159it dvan\u00e1ctiv\u00e1lec. Vznikl spojen\u00edm dvou motor\u016f VR6 se spole\u010dnou klikovou sk\u0159\u00edn\u00ed. Na prvn\u00ed pohled to vypad\u00e1 jednodu\u0161e, ve skute\u010dnosti to ale zase tak jednoduch\u00e9 nebylo.<\/p>\n<p>T\u0159eba konstrukce klikov\u00e9ho h\u0159\u00eddele je pro motor W8 a W12 odli\u0161n\u00e1, co\u017e dokazuje jin\u00e9 vyosen\u00ed ojni\u010dn\u00edho \u010depu. U W8 bylo m\u00ednus 18 stup\u0148\u016f, kde\u017eto u dvan\u00e1ctiv\u00e1lce naopak plus 12 stup\u0148\u016f. Z toho tak\u00e9 vypl\u00fdv\u00e1 odli\u0161n\u00e9 po\u0159ad\u00ed zapalov\u00e1n\u00ed, kter\u00e9 bylo u W8 1-5-4-8-6-3-7-2, zat\u00edmco u W12 1-12-5-8-3-10-6-7-2-11-4-9. Naproti tomu t\u0159eba vrt\u00e1n\u00ed v\u00e1lc\u016f a tak\u00e9 zdvih p\u00edst\u016f z\u016fstaly stejn\u00e9 \u2013 84 mm (vrt\u00e1n\u00ed), respektive 90,168 mm (zdvih).<\/p>\n<p>Motory ale m\u011bly je\u0161t\u011b jednu technickou odli\u0161nost. Men\u0161\u00ed W8 vy\u017eadovalo pro zachov\u00e1n\u00ed po\u017eadovan\u00e9 kultivovanosti chodu a kompenzaci setrva\u010dn\u00fdch sil dvojici vyva\u017eovac\u00edch h\u0159\u00eddel\u016f. Ty byly vedeny t\u011bsn\u011b nad sebou pod jednou \u0159adou v\u00e1lc\u016f. Pohon spodn\u00edho zaji\u0161\u0165oval kr\u00e1tk\u00fd ozuben\u00fd \u0159emen p\u0159\u00edmo od klikov\u00e9 h\u0159\u00eddele, horn\u00ed byl poh\u00e1n\u011bn od n\u011bj p\u0159es ozuben\u00e9 soukol\u00ed. Oba rotovaly vz\u00e1jemn\u011b proti sob\u011b stejnou rychlost\u00ed.<\/p>\n<p>Specialita pro Bugatti<\/p>\n<p>Zvl\u00e1\u0161tn\u00ed postaven\u00ed m\u00e1 mezi motory Volkswagen W ji\u017e zm\u00edn\u011bn\u00fd \u0161estn\u00e1ctiv\u00e1lec vyr\u00e1b\u011bn\u00fd od roku 2005 do lo\u0148ska a poh\u00e1n\u011bj\u00edc\u00ed postupn\u011b (a v\u00fdhradn\u011b) n\u011bkolik model\u016f firmy Bugatti. Maz\u00e1n\u00ed pracovalo se suchou klikovou sk\u0159\u00edn\u00ed, tedy op\u011bt odli\u0161nost od zbytku t\u00e9to \u0159ady.<\/p>\n<p>Nebyl jedin\u00fd<\/p>\n<p>A\u010dkoliv si motory s uspo\u0159\u00e1d\u00e1n\u00edm v\u00e1lc\u016f do W spojujeme se skupinou VW, u\u017e d\u00e1vno p\u0159edt\u00edm vznikly jinde pro jin\u00e9 aplikace. P\u0159\u00edkladem m\u016f\u017ee b\u00fdt 24v\u00e1lcov\u00fd motor do W Duesenberg pou\u017e\u00edvan\u00fd k pohonu z\u00e1vodn\u00ed lodi. O n\u011bm je v\u0161ak informac\u00ed velmi m\u00e1lo.<\/p>\n<p>Historicky nejv\u00fdznamn\u011bj\u0161\u00ed byl britsk\u00fd motor W12 firmy Napier Aero Engines Ltd. zn\u00e1m\u00fd jako Lion, jeho\u017e prototyp vznikl v roce 1916, o rok pozd\u011bji byl vyroben s\u00e9riov\u00fd v\u00fdrazn\u011b vylep\u0161en\u00fd motor. V prvn\u00ed polovin\u011b 20. stolet\u00ed slou\u017eil k pohonu hned n\u011bkolika britsk\u00fdch bombard\u00e9r\u016f (nap\u0159\u00edklad Handley Page H.P.15 V\/1500) a jin\u00fdch vojensk\u00fdch letadel. Ve vrcholn\u00e9 form\u011b nab\u00edzel nejvy\u0161\u0161\u00ed v\u00fdkon 450 kon\u00ed (331 kW). V roce 1939 dva tyto motory poh\u00e1n\u011bly rychlostn\u011b rekordn\u00ed vozidlo v Bonneville Salt Flats, kde dos\u00e1hlo nejvy\u0161\u0161\u00ed rychlosti 389,7 mph, tedy 623,52 km\/h.<\/p>\n<p>Motor Lion W12 m\u00e1 t\u0159i \u0159ady po \u010dty\u0159ech v\u00e1lc\u00edch, uspo\u0159\u00e1dan\u00fdch do \u0161irok\u00e9ho \u0161\u00edpu. Objem \u010dinil 24 litr\u016f p\u0159i vrt\u00e1n\u00ed 140 mm a zdvihu 130 mm. Hmotnost motoru byla 389 kg.
