Strabag: Construction group STRABAG has been commissioned by DB InfraGO AG to execute several construction sections of the Fehmarn Sound Crossing. This marks the start of a major future-facing infrastructure project that will connect the island of Fehmarn with the German mainland via an underground link. With a length of approximately 2.2 kilometres, the new tunnel will replace the existing Fehmarn Sound Bridge with a high-capacity connection for both road and rail. Road traffic will run on four lanes through two tunnel tubes, while the rail line will be routed on two tracks in separate tubes.
