Sebastian Hoeneß, Atakan Karazor and Deniz Undav assess the cup match at Bochum.
Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß: “We’re glad to have reached the next round. We quickly realised in the early stages that it could be an uncomfortable and hard match – in the end it didn’t quite turn out the way because of a fortunate turn of events for us. The opening goal and the red card gave the match a certain direction, and then the second goal straight after the restart killed it off a bit.”
Atakan Karazor: “We’re happy that we won and are into the next round. That’s what it’s about in the DFB Cup. Bochum made it hard for us, it’s anything but easy coming to this stadium. Bochum’s chances partly came from our mistakes, which we discussed at half-time and then improved. It’s a deserved win.”
Deniz Undav: “The opening goal helped us. the early lead was what we wanted. We also scored the second goal at a good time and that set the course for the win. Just looking at the performance, though, there are a few things we can improve, but it’s the DFB Cup – it’s about getting through and progressing, which we’ve done. I don’t have any particular wish for the quarter-finals, although it would be nice if we got a home draw.”
