According to the organizers, the World Orchid Conference has been taking place since 1954 and has been hosted in Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro and Sydney, among other places. The last European host was the French city of Dijon 20 years ago. This year, over 650 experts from more than 40 countries are coming together in Dresden. The program includes more than 70 lectures, including on sustainable breeding, biodiversity and the protection of native orchid species.
