Outskirts of Ballater (75.1 km S of epicenter) [Map] / Weak shaking (MMI III) / rattling, vibrating : 1. Woke me up 7:30/8am ish. Did not record time. Felt something was falling on house, lime a tree. Opened bedroom door. 2. Around 5pm/6pm dramatically house movement. Was downstairs. Went out to investigate as I wonders if the air ambulance had landed outside.

And I’ve never know the shaking to ever feel horizontal, nor last for as long as it did.

Was Intensität und die Mercalli-Intensitätsskala?
Das Ausmaß der Erschütterungen, die aufgrund eines Erdbebens an der Oberfläche auftreten, wird als Intensität bezeichnet. Sie wird üblicherweise auf der sogenannten modifizierten Mercalli-Intensitätsskala (MMI) gemessen, die von 1 (nicht spürbar) bis 10 (extremes Zittern) reicht und in römischen Ziffern als I, II, … IX, X angegeben und oft mit Farbcodes von Hellblau bis Dunkelrot dargestellt wird.
Die Erdbebenintensität hängt hauptsächlich von der Stärke und Tiefe eines Erdbebens sowie der Entfernung vom Epizentrum ab: Je weiter entfernt, desto geringer ist die Erschütterungsintensität.
