Als geheimnisvolle Taubenf\u00fctterin in „Kevin – Allein in New York“ ber\u00fchrt die irische Schauspielerin Brenda Fricker das Kinopublikum. Nun ist die Oscar-Preistr\u00e4gerin mit 81 Jahren gestorben.<\/p>\n

Millionen kennen Brenda Fricker wegen einer kleinen Nebenrolle im Film „Kevin – Allein in New York“ aus dem Jahr 1992. Darin spielt sie eine mutma\u00dflich obdachlose „Taubenlady“ im Central Park. Die Begegnung mit ihr ist f\u00fcr den kleinen Filmhelden Kevin (verk\u00f6rpert von Macaulay Culkin) zun\u00e4chst ein Schreckmoment, doch anschlie\u00dfend werden die beiden Freunde. Nun ist die geb\u00fcrtige Irin im Alter von 81 Jahren gestorben. Das teilte ihr Agent in einer Stellungnahme der britischen Nachrichtenagentur PA sowie dem Sender RT\u00c9 mit.<\/p>\n

In ihrer Heimat Irland geh\u00f6rte Fricker zu den „angesehensten Schauspielerinnen ihrer Generation“, wie die „Irish Times“ schrieb. 1990 war sie f\u00fcr ihre Rolle in dem Drama „Mein linker Fu\u00df“ mit Daniel Day-Lewis als erste irische Schauspielerin mit dem Oscar f\u00fcr die beste Nebendarstellerin ausgezeichnet worden. Der Sender RT\u00c9 erinnerte an ihre Dankesrede, in der sie die Auszeichnung „allen Menschen in Irland“ widmete.<\/p>\n

Im Jahr 2014 hatte Fricker ihren R\u00fcckzug aus dem Schauspielgesch\u00e4ft bekannt gegeben. Sie wolle ihren Ruhestand genie\u00dfen. Die Schauspielerei sei ihr zu anstrengend geworden.<\/p>\n

Zuletzt hatte Fricker ihre Memoiren mit dem Titel „She Died Young“ ver\u00f6ffentlicht. Anfang des Jahres hatte die Stadt Dublin angek\u00fcndigt, ihr die Auszeichnung „Freedom of the City of Dublin“ zu verleihen.<\/p>\n
