In a shock move for the U.K. industry, Netflix<\/a> has poached Ollie Madden<\/a>, director of Film4<\/a> and Channel 4<\/a> drama, to become its new director of U.K. Film.<\/p>\n

Madden<\/a>, who oversaw a slate at Film4 that included Oscar-winning features such as \u201cPoor Things<\/a>,\u201d \u201cThe Zone of Interest<\/a>\u201d and \u201cThe Favourite<\/a>,\u201d will be joining content team overseen by Anne Mensah<\/a> in Netflix\u2019s London office. He will both lead the streamer\u2019s U.K. film slate and act as the primary U.K. contact for films on Dan Lin<\/a>\u2019s slate where the IP, talent and production are based in the U.K., with the exception of family features for North America, such as the Narnia<\/a> and Dahl franchises. He will also develop a select portfolio of filmmaker-led series.<\/p>\n

Madden is set to leave Film4 and start his new position in October.<\/p>\n
