In ihrer Heimat sind sie Legende, die kubanischen Musiker Compay Segundo, Rub\u00e9n Gonzalez, Ibrahim Ferrer, Omara Portuondo und Eliades Ochoa. Der amerikanische Komponist Ry Cooder konnte sie f\u00fcr ein einmaliges Musikprojekt gewinnen. Unter dem Gruppennamen „Buena Vista Social Club“ traten die Musiker in Amsterdam und in New York auf. Ihr Album „Ry Cooder and the Buena Vista Social Club“ wurde dabei zu einem internationalen \u00dcberraschungshit, ausgezeichnet mit einem Grammy. Wim Wenders begleitete die Gruppe w\u00e4hrend ihrer Konzerte in Amsterdam und New York. Dar\u00fcber hinaus suchte er die Musiker in ihrer kubanischen Heimat auf und sp\u00fcrte den vielen Geschichten nach, die Segundo und Co zu erz\u00e4hlen haben. Kuba zeigt in den Erz\u00e4hlungen ein anderes Gesicht, als oft nach au\u00dfen dringt. Herausgekommen ist dabei ein wunderbarer Dokumentar- und Musikfilm.<\/p>\n

Wim Wenders accompanied the group during their concerts in Amsterdam and New York.<\/p>\n

He also visited the musicians in their Cuban homeland and traced the many stories that Segundo and Co have to tell.<\/p>\n

Cuba shows a different face in the stories than is often seen from the outside. <\/p>\n

The result is a wonderful documentary and music film.<\/strong><\/p>\n
