(picture alliance \/ ASSOCIATED PRESS \/ Christophe Ena)<\/p>\n<p>Der 70-J\u00e4hrige wird im Pariser Gef\u00e4ngnis Sant\u00e9 in einer Einzelzelle untergebracht, ohne Kontakt zu anderen H\u00e4ftlingen. Sarkozy wird damit der erste franz\u00f6sische Staatschef der Nachkriegszeit und erste Ex-Pr\u00e4sident eines EU-Landes sein, der eine Haftstrafe antritt.\u00a0Ein Gericht hatte den konservativen Politiker Ende September in der Aff\u00e4re um illegale Wahlkampffinanzierung aus Libyen zu f\u00fcnf Jahren Haft verurteilt.\u00a0Sarkozy legte Berufung ein, muss aber nach dem Willen des Gerichts die Haft vor Beginn des Berufungsprozesses zun\u00e4chst antreten.<\/p>\n<p>Gleichwohl kann er aufgrund seines Alters eine Freilassung unter Auflagen beantragen, um seine Strafe au\u00dferhalb des Gef\u00e4ngnisses zu verb\u00fc\u00dfen.
