The UK National Football Associations have tabled a bid to host the FIFA Women\u2019s World Cup in 2035.<\/p>\n
WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via a media release from The English Football Association this morning.<\/p>\n
All four home nations will play a part in hosting the tournament which will be the largest single-sport event ever staged in the UK. It has been reported that there are 22 stadiums proposed to host matches \u2013 16 in England, three in Wales, two in Scotland and one in Northern Ireland. The tournament will have 16 host cities.<\/p>\n
Following this morning\u2019s announcement, the CEOs of The FA, Irish FA, Scottish FA and FA of Wales released a joint-statement which read: \u201cHosting the FIFA Women\u2019s World Cup would be a huge privilege for our four home nations.\u202fIf we are successful, the 2035 tournament\u202fwill be the biggest single-sport event held on UK soil with 4.5 million tickets available for fans.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are proud of the growth that we\u2019ve driven in recent years across the women\u2019s and girls\u2019 game, but there is still so much more growth to come, and this event will play a key role in helping us deliver that.\u202fWorking together with FIFA, a Women\u2019s World Cup in the UK has the power to turbo charge the women\u2019s\u202fand girls\u2019\u202fgame\u202fboth in the UK and globally. Our bid also\u202fdemonstrates\u202four commitment to leaving\u202fa lasting legacy,\u202fin the run up to 2035, and the years afterwards.<\/p>\n
