Bafana winger signs for new European team<\/p>\n

Bafana Bafana winger Mihlali Mayambela<\/a> has signed for Cyprus League outfit Omonia<\/a> Nicosia on a deal that runs until May 2028.<\/p>\n

This comes after the 29-year-old mutually parted ways with Aris Limassol<\/a> earlier on Thursday, making him eligible to sign for any team of his choice.<\/p>\n

Mayambela had joined Limassol in July 2022, and went on to lift the Cyprus League and the Cyprus Super Cup, including featuring in the UEFA Europa League.<\/p>\n

He made a total of 125 appearances for the club, while chipping in with 19 goals and 15 assists during his spell in Limassol.<\/p>\n

Now, the versatile player is set for a new chapter with Cypriot giants Omonia<\/a>, who have won the championship 21 times, with their last triumph dating back to the 2020\/21 campaign.<\/p>\n

Mayambela’s new team currently sits atop the log standings as they are five points clear of second-placed AEK Lanarca, who have amassed 40 points in 19 games.<\/p>\n

The South African international, who has two goals in 16 Bafana caps, will share a dressing room with former Manchester City striker Stevan Jovetic.<\/p>\n
