Polish state-owned defense manufacturer Huta Stalowa Wola (HSW) has ordered several hundred chassis from CSG Group companies to license and produce Waran 4×4 and Heron 6×6 tactical vehicles for the Polish Armed Forces.
Of the three contracts, worth more than 150 million euros ($174 million) in total, two cover 4×4 chassis for Waran 4×4 multipurpose tactical vehicles in various configurations, including a command vehicle for the Missile and Artillery Forces.
The third order covers 6×6 chassis for Heron 6×6 armored vehicles, including a command variant for Missile and Artillery Forces units equipped with Homar-A and Homar-K multiple-launch rocket systems.
The contracts also include assembly kits, with deliveries scheduled to be completed by the end of 2029.
“The signing of these agreements marks the continuation and expansion of the CSG Group’s strategic cooperation with the Polish defence industry,” President of the Management Board of CSG Polska Wojciech Grzonka said.
“This cooperation provides significant support for increasing the defence capabilities of the Land Forces and enables the rapid delivery of top-quality products.
Our technological cooperation with Huta Stalowa Wola already has a fairly long history, and CSG is ready to develop it further, including through the implementation of new business models.”
Waran, Heron
The Waran 4×4 and Heron 6×6 multipurpose vehicles produced by HSW are based on CSG Group’s Patriot II and Tadeas platforms.
Following technology transfer and industrial cooperation with CSG companies, HSW has begun series production of both vehicles.
The Polish Armed Forces has already received several dozen Waran 4×4 vehicles in various configurations, including platforms for the Gladius unmanned search-and-strike system.
The Heron 6×6 is similarly designed as a versatile wheeled platform for multiple configurations, including command, troop transport, carriage of weapons and specialized equipment, and medical evacuation.
