Dr. Salah Suleiman Gemblat, Minister of State for Military Production, attended the opening ceremony of the First “Balkan Shield 2026” Defence Industry Expo and Summit in Bosnia and Herzegovina, held under the patronage of Denis Bećirović, Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Minister commended the outstanding organization of the exhibition, noting that it strengthens Bosnia and Herzegovina’s position on the global defence industry map and reflects the Bosnian side’s commitment to providing a comprehensive and unified platform that brings together leaders, decision-makers, senior officials, and experts from around the world. The event provides participants with an opportunity to explore the latest innovations and advanced industrial technologies and discuss ways to enhance international cooperation across various defence and security industries.

The Minister expressed his sincere wishes for the success of the First “Balkan Shield” Expo and Summit in achieving its objectives and creating promising opportunities for the exchange of knowledge and expertise, as well as for building cooperative partnerships in defence manufacturing.

Gemblat noted that the Ministry of Military Production’s participation in the exhibition reflects the close relations between the two countries, which continue to gain momentum with the support of the political leadership in both friendly countries. He added that, during the exhibition, he would focus on exploring areas of joint cooperation with a number of participating entities and receiving technical delegations at the Ministry’s pavilion to showcase the manufacturing and technological capabilities of companies affiliated with the Ministry, as well as to discuss opportunities for establishing joint strategic industrial partnerships. He also planned to visit the pavilions of companies representing various countries to review the latest manufacturing technologies.

The opening ceremony included the screening of a film highlighting the exhibition, its exhibitors, and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s defence industries, which have a history spanning more than 75 years.

Memorandum of Understanding Signed Between Military Production Companies and Turkey’s MKE

In line with the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi regarding the importance of building strategic partnerships with fraternal and friendly countries and strengthening international cooperation across various fields, Dr. Eng. Salah Suleiman Gemblat, Minister of State for Military Production, witnessed, in the presence of the Turkish Deputy Minister of Defence, the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Heliopolis Company for Chemical Industries (Military Factory 81) and Helwan Company for Engineering Industries (Military Factory 99), both affiliated with the Ministry of Military Production, and Türkiye’s Mechanical and Chemical Industries Corporation (MKE).

The Minister noted that the signing reflects the Ministry of Military Production’s keen interest in opening new horizons for industrial partnerships between its affiliated companies and their Turkish counterparts in areas of mutual interest, particularly in light of the advanced capabilities and expertise of companies on both sides in the defence industries. He added that the agreement would support the exchange of technical and technological expertise and make use of the manufacturing capacities available to both parties.

For his part, the Turkish Deputy Minister of Defence highlighted the continued development of relations between the two countries and both sides’ efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation in a manner that serves their shared interests. He praised the progress achieved by Egypt’s defence industries, noting that Türkiye is a global leader in defence manufacturing and remains committed to strengthening cooperation with various friendly countries.
