T\u00fcrkiye’s Defence Industries Secretariat head Haluk G\u00f6rg\u00fcn stated on Monday that stronger defence industry cooperation between T\u00fcrkiye and Romania would enhance the two allies’ joint capabilities and contribute to NATO’s collective security. G\u00f6rg\u00fcn hosted Romanian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Radu Miru\u021b\u0103 and his delegation at Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSA\u015e) facilities as part of the 2026 NATO Summit and NATO Defence Industry Forum in Ankara.<\/p>\n
Strategic cooperation<\/p>\n
“I believe that taking this strong partnership even further will make significant contributions to our joint capabilities and the Alliance’s collective security,” G\u00f6rg\u00fcn said in a post on X. During the visit, the Romanian delegation was briefed on T\u00fcrkiye’s national aerospace projects, production infrastructure, and high\u2011technology capabilities. “The CAm. Roman Corvette, delivered to the Romanian Navy last June, is a tangible reflection of the level our strategic cooperation between these two NATO Allies has reached,” he said.<\/p>\n
Deepening ties<\/p>\n
Defence industry cooperation between T\u00fcrkiye and Romania has continued to deepen through concrete projects and deliveries, G\u00f6rg\u00fcn added. He thanked Miru\u021b\u0103 for the visit and the productive discussions, saying T\u00fcrkiye would continue to strengthen defence industry cooperation with friendly and allied countries through a strategic approach. The visit comes as NATO leaders gather in Ankara for the summit, where defence industrial production and burden\u2011sharing are expected to be key agenda items.
