{"id":4346,"date":"2026-07-22T21:18:18","date_gmt":"2026-07-22T21:18:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/defence\/4346\/"},"modified":"2026-07-22T21:18:18","modified_gmt":"2026-07-22T21:18:18","slug":"bae-licenses-l119-light-gun-production-in-ukraine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/defence\/4346\/","title":{"rendered":"BAE Licenses L119 Light Gun Production in Ukraine\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/dronefront.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">&#13;<br \/>\n    <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/defence\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/WhatsAppVideo2026-05-15at09.23.58.gif\" alt=\"The Drone Front\" width=\"1280\" height=\"539\"\/>&#13;<br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BAE Systems has signed a licensing agreement with a strategic defense partner to produce its L119 105mm Light Gun in Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under the agreement, the partner will receive BAE Systems\u2019 technical data and engineering support to manufacture an initial gun for testing.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The collaboration will also support the development of an L119 variant tailored to the operational requirements of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which already operates around 36 of the guns donated by the UK.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Designed by BAE Systems, the L119 is a lightweight, towed 105mm artillery system known for its mobility, reliability, and combat-proven performance.<\/p>\n<p>Long-Term Support for Ukraine<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The deal builds on BAE Systems\u2019 long-term support for Ukraine and its efforts to strengthen the country\u2019s domestic defence industry, including the recent delivery of the first <a href=\"https:\/\/thedefensepost.com\/2026\/07\/16\/bae-artillery-barrel-forgings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">105mm and 155mm gun barrel forgings<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Those initial forgings will validate Ukraine\u2019s manufacturing processes ahead of full-scale integration and production.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cStrong defence capability depends on trusted industrial partnerships,\u201d director of engineering, technology and strategy at BAE Systems Weapon Systems UK, Giles Ambrose, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baesystems.com\/en\/article\/bae-systems-signs-light-gun-license-agreement-with-strategic-defence-partner-in-ukraine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis agreement brings together BAE Systems\u2019 artillery expertise and our strategic defence partner\u2019s knowledge of Ukraine\u2019s operational requirements to support the development of sovereign capability where it is needed most.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSupporting Ukraine is not simply about supplying equipment.
