Madrid, July 30, 2026 \u2013 Indra will launch a new military vehicle factory in As Pontes, in A Coru\u00f1a, taking a further step in the creation in northern Spain of one of Europe\u2019s largest industrial hubs for land platforms.<\/p>\n
The company has acquired a site of more than 50,000 square meters, with nearly 15,000 square meters of built area, to establish this new facility, in which it will invest around \u20ac18 million.<\/p>\n
The factory will create between 70 and 120 highly qualified direct jobs in Galicia, as well as numerous indirect jobs in the supply chain, among suppliers and in associated services.<\/p>\n
The facility will join Indra\u2019s production center in Gij\u00f3n, increasing the industrial floor space of Indra Land Vehicles, the division specializing in land vehicles, to 40,000 m\u00b2, a figure that could reach 55,000 m\u00b2 with the addition of a third plant in the northern corridor that is still being selected.<\/p>\n
The As Pontes center is expected to take on the integration of amphibious combat vehicles, bridge-laying vehicles and wheeled artillery systems that Indra will develop for the Spanish Armed Forces. This center will have the capacity to integrate, test, validate and put these systems into service, as well as new industrial capabilities to address highly complex programs and its own test track, which will help accelerate their execution and delivery.<\/p>\n
Josep Mar\u00eda Recasens, CEO of Indra Group, said: \u201cWhat we are building in the northern corridor is much more than an expansion of our production capacity. We are developing a new generation of factories designed from scratch to integrate advanced digitalization, automation and artificial intelligence, with the aim of placing them among the most efficient and competitive in Europe\u201d.<\/p>\n
The company\u2019s plans include establishing an industrial base capable of guaranteeing much faster, more reliable and more competitive deliveries than those currently available on the market.<\/p>\n
Over the past year, Indra Group has promoted the creation of a large number of industrial centers, demonstrating its commitment to strengthening the Spanish and European defense industry.<\/p>\n
In the field of vehicle manufacturing in the northern corridor alone, Indra will have integration and production capacity for around 500 units a year, making this region one of Europe\u2019s largest industrial hubs specializing in land platforms.<\/p>\n
The initiative is also part of Indra\u2019s broader plan to strengthen its industrial footprint across Spain, following the three corridors or axes defined by the Ministry of Defence in its Defence Industrial Strategy.<\/p>\n
In this regard, the company plans to multiply its production surface area, increasing it from around 36,000 m\u00b2 to more than 154,000 m\u00b2, through an investment of over \u20ac200 million and the creation of more than 1,000 direct industrial jobs and 1,400 engineering and highly qualified positions.<\/p>\n
