The agreement combines the company’s Gen-2 and Gen-3 constellations under its Assured and On-Demand subscription services.

The contract follows an initial pilot that was expanded into a longer-term commitment. The customer will receive global coverage through the On-Demand service and priority access to imagery and analytics within a designated regional area through the Assured subscription.

“BlackSky continues to drive recurring, high-margin revenue through key international subscription deals with our foundational Gen-2 dynamic monitoring constellation and ever-expanding best-in-class 35-centimeter class Gen-3 constellation,” said Brian O’Toole, BlackSky CEO. “This contract marks a significant increase in value from the original pilot program and exemplifies the continued momentum that BlackSky experiences as more international customers quickly scale up commitments in support of their long-term mission critical needs.”

The customer will integrate Gen-2 and Gen-3 data into its existing environment through BlackSky’s Spectra tasking and analytics platform. The platform supports sustained monitoring across multiple locations and provides access to imagery and analytics through a common workflow.

BlackSky’s Gen-2 constellation provides high-frequency monitoring, while Gen-3 satellites add 35-centimeter-class imagery. The company said the combination is designed to provide faster collection alongside greater image detail for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions.

“This agreement also proves the value of our integrated Gen-2 and Gen-3 satellite systems. By combining Gen-2’s high-frequency cadence with Gen-3’s advanced very high-resolution imaging, analysts experience the benefits of industry leading timeliness and detail, all within the confidence of a secure workflow,” O’Toole said.

Gen-3 satellites are designed to provide rapid-revisit, time-diverse imagery and support automated identification and classification of vehicles, aircraft, vessels and other objects of military interest. The capability builds on BlackSky’s existing Gen-2 dawn-to-dusk monitoring services.

BlackSky is continuing to add Gen-3 satellites to its fleet alongside its operational Gen-2 systems. The company said the combined constellation is intended to support ISR requirements ranging from strategic monitoring to tactical operations.

BlackSky Technology has secured a seven-figure, multi-year international contract for satellite imagery and AI-enabled analytics.
