NEW DELHI: In a big development to empower the Indian private players with new missile technologies to reduce dependence on imports and achieve the govt’s vision of Aatmanirbharta, defence minister Rajnath Singh has approved the transfer of DRDO-developed technologies of all conventional missile systems to the domestic industry for production within the country. The initiative aims to enhance operational capability, reduce import dependence and increase domestic value addition, while supporting the growth of India’s defence manufacturing sector, a defence ministry’s statement said on Tuesday. This transfer of technology marks an important milestone in promoting greater participation of the domestic industries in the defence ecosystem by enabling them to undertake indigenous production, as per applicable qualifications, certifications and regulatory requirements, it said. The provision will enable successful transition of missile system development to industrial production, reflecting the continued efforts of DRDO to leverage the capabilities of the Indian industry for the development and manufacture of advanced defence systems. The objective is to enhance domestic manufacturing capabilities, strengthen the defence industrial base and create opportunities for the participation of Indian MSMEs and other technology partners in the supply chain.DRDO-developed conventional missiles are non-strategic, non-nuclear guided weapon systems designed and developed by the elite R&D agency for tactical and traditional battlefield operations.DRDO has designed and developed a wide array of indigenous conventional (non-strategic) missile systems spanning air defence, strike, and anti-armour roles. Among them are surface-to-air and air defence systems like Akash and Akash NG (designed to intercept fighter jets, cruise missiles, and drones), Very Short Range Air Defence System (VSHORDS are meant for countering low-altitude aerial threats at short ranges); air-to-air and strike missiles like Astra (beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile), Rudram (anti-radiation missile series designed for suppression of enemy air defences); NASM-SR (naval anti-ship missile-short range tailored for anti-surface warfare from naval helicopters and ships) and Indigenous land-attack cruise missiles.DRDO remains committed to working closely with Indian industry to facilitate the transfer and absorption of advanced defence technologies and to further strengthen the country’s indigenous defence capabilities, the ministry said.

Defence minister Rajnath Singh has given the green light for the transfer of missile technology from the DRDO.…

[2
1422,14,931,4662,266,392,4661,284
post-7756","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-news","tag-aatmanirbharta","tag-defence-industry","tag-defence-manufacturing-sector","tag-domestic-industry","tag-drdo","tag-indian-defence-manufacturing","tag-missile-technology-transfer","tag-rajnath-singh
["GET
