The meeting from 25 to 28 August brought together nearly 100 military representatives from the five Nordic allies.

Participants worked in specialist and cross-functional groups to compare operational experience, examine common challenges and identify areas for deeper cooperation. The discussions focused on making Nordic air power more coherent and effective by combining national capabilities and expertise.

The talks took place with all five Nordic countries now operating within NATO following the accession of Finland and Sweden. That shared alliance framework has expanded the scope for joint planning and closer coordination among their national forces.

“Nordic Air Forces staff talks are an important forum for professional military dialogue between the Nordic countries,” said Norwegian Major General Tron Strand, commander of CAOC Bodø. “With Finland and Sweden now members of NATO, the conditions for even closer Nordic defence cooperation are better than ever.”

The Nordic Airpower Concept provides the framework for that work and establishes a common direction for future cooperation. Its purpose is to help the countries align how their forces prepare and operate while drawing on their combined capabilities and experience.

“As the Nordic countries develop their ability to operate more closely together, this not only strengthens Nordic defence capabilities – it also contributes to strengthening NATO as an alliance,” Strand added. NATO said deeper integration would support readiness and its ability to conduct cohesive operations across the region.

“The three days helped strengthen both professional cooperation and the network between the Nordic air power communities – and contributed to taking the Nordic Air Power Concept one step further,” said Swedish Brigadier General Jörgen Axelsson, deputy commander of CAOC Bodø. The meeting also developed professional relationships and shared understanding among personnel from the five countries.

Continued work on common procedures and operational approaches is intended to improve regional cohesion. NATO said the cooperation would support its defensive posture, deterrence and collective defence.

Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden have advanced plans for closer air power integration through talks at NATO’s…

[2
14
post-8591","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-news","tag-defence-industry
["GET
