Valued at <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.barchart.com\/stocks\/quotes\/RTX\/profile\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">$280 billion<\/a> by market cap, the company offers avionics systems, aviation systems, communications and navigation equipment, interior and exterior aircraft lighting, aircraft seating, environmental control systems, flight control systems, and engine components.<\/p>\n<p>Companies worth $200 billion or more are generally described as \u201cmega-cap stocks,\u201d and RTX definitely fits that description, with its market cap exceeding this threshold, reflecting its substantial size, influence, and dominance\u00a0in the aerospace &amp; defense industry.\u00a0RTX\u2019s strength lies in its diversified portfolio, enabling it to leverage growth across sectors and invest in R&amp;D. Its scale and brand equity in aerospace and defense drive innovation and secure government contracts.<\/p>\n<p>Despite its notable strength, RTX slipped 8.4% from its\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.barchart.com\/stocks\/quotes\/RTX\/price-history\/historical\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">52-week high of $226.88<\/a>, achieved on Aug. 10. Over the past three months, RTX stock\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.barchart.com\/stocks\/quotes\/RTX\/performance\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">gained 18.8%<\/a>, outperforming the State Street Industrial Select Sector SPDR ETF\u2019s (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.barchart.com\/etfs-funds\/quotes\/XLI\/overview\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">XLI<\/a>)\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.barchart.com\/stocks\/quotes\/XLI\/performance\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">marginal gains<\/a>\u00a0during the same time frame.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"aspect-ratio:940\/621;\" src=\"https:\/\/barchart-news-media-prod.aws.barchart.com\/SANDP\/a47a62d8cbd22d83beed12ea00833120\/ngexig8ycnpuqqnl.png\" width=\"940\" height=\"621\"\/><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.barchart.com\/stocks\/quotes\/RTX\/interactive-chart\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">www.barchart.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Shares of RTX rose 13% on a YTD basis and climbed 30.7% over the past 52 weeks, outperforming XLI\u2019s YTD gains of 12.2% and 14.5% returns over the last year.<\/p>\n<p>To confirm the bullish trend, RTX has been trading above its 50-day and 200-day moving averages since mid-June, with minor fluctuations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"aspect-ratio:940\/616;\" src=\"https:\/\/barchart-news-media-prod.aws.barchart.com\/SANDP\/a47a62d8cbd22d83beed12ea00833120\/jwwdrdkoc69wxcnx.png\" width=\"940\" height=\"616\"\/><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.barchart.com\/stocks\/quotes\/RTX\/interactive-chart\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">www.barchart.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>RTX outperformed on the back of robust demand for aircraft maintenance and missile defense systems, which reinforced investor confidence. The stock continued to rally after its Raytheon unit <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.barchart.com\/story\/news\/3437400\/why-is-rtx-rtx-stock-soaring-today\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">secured a $1.1 billion contract from the U.S. Navy<\/a> to produce AIM-9X Block II missiles, including associated hardware and software, for the U.S. military and allied nations. To meet rising demand, Raytheon is scaling production capacity to 2,500 missiles per year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On Jul. 23, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.barchart.com\/stocks\/quotes\/RTX\/price-history\/historical\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">RTX shares jumped 7.3%<\/a> after reporting its <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.barchart.com\/story\/news\/3421126\/rtx-q2-earnings-snapshot\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Q2 results<\/a>. Its adjusted EPS of $1.89 beat Wall Street expectations of $1.66. The company\u2019s revenue was $24.7 billion, beating Wall Street forecasts of $22.8 billion. RTX expects full-year adjusted EPS in the range of $7.10 to $7.25.<\/p>\n<p>In the competitive arena of aerospace &amp; defense, Northrop Grumman Corporation\u00a0(<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.barchart.com\/stocks\/quotes\/NOC\/overview\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">NOC<\/a>) has lagged behind the stock, with a\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.barchart.com\/stocks\/quotes\/NOC\/performance\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">4.8% loss<\/a> on a YTD basis and an 8% downtick over the past 52 weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Wall Street analysts are reasonably bullish on RTX\u2019s prospects.
