The company said the LR-PGK became the first U.S. guidance kit to demonstrate accurate control of 155 mm artillery at ranges exceeding that distance.<\/p>\n<p>The kit guided XM1113 Rocket Assisted Projectiles during the trial and achieved accuracy that significantly surpassed requirements established for legacy guidance systems. The results validated key performance objectives for the LR-PGK and XM1113 programs, according to General Dynamics.<\/p>\n<p>The two programs are intended to support the U.S. Army\u2019s emerging requirement for long-range massed cannon fires. General Dynamics said the technology is ready to address performance requirements associated with the Army\u2019s emerging Mobile Tactical Cannon program while also increasing the capabilities of its legacy 39-caliber cannon fleet.<\/p>\n<p>The LR-PGK is designed to improve the accuracy and operational effectiveness of 155 mm artillery systems. It can be integrated with several 155 mm projectiles, including the M1128 and next-generation rocket-assisted ammunition, allowing it to support both existing and future artillery platforms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn addition to demonstrating precision at unprecedented ranges, this test validates the performance, maturity and growth potential of the LR-PGK,\u201d said Michael Bate, senior vice president and general manager at GDOTS. \u201cOur team has demonstrated that we can deliver precision guidance capability at ranges greater than 50 kilometers while maintaining the performance and reliability required for the warfighter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis achievement reflects our commitment to advancing cannon artillery capabilities and providing the U.S. Army and our allies with effective solutions for an increasingly contested battlefield,\u201d Bate added. The system\u2019s modular architecture is designed to accommodate further capability upgrades as technology and operational requirements evolve.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside its focus on extended-range precision fires, General Dynamics is developing the LR-PGK to operate in increasingly challenging battlefield conditions. The system has demonstrated resilience against operationally relevant threats in laboratory and live-fire testing, while the company continues to pursue improvements to its performance and adaptability.<\/p>\n<p>GDOTS supplies munitions, weapon systems, artillery and energetics from more than 25 locations across the United States and Canada.
