The group was subsequently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/proscribed-terror-groups-or-organisations--2\/proscribed-terrorist-groups-or-organisations-accessible-version\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">proscribed as a terror group in the UK<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/home.treasury.gov\/news\/press-releases\/sb0616\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">US recently designated the same<\/a>, meaning its British activists now face financial sanctions.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In response to the vandalism, Barclays put out a <a href=\"https:\/\/home.barclays\/how-Barclays-supports-the-defence-sector\/Is-it-true-that-youve-divested-from-certain-defence-stocks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">statement<\/a> making clear that the shares were held only on the behalf of clients.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cWe are not making investments for Barclays and Barclays is not a \u2018shareholder\u2019 or \u2018investor\u2019 in [Israeli defence] companies in that sense,\u201d the statement said. <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Barclays chief executive CS Venkatakrishnan also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/business\/article\/2024\/jun\/14\/attacks-on-barclays-put-our-staff-at-risk-and-are-not-justified-by-middle-east-events\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">wrote<\/a> that the bank had been targeted because of a \u201ccampaign of disinformation\u201d and reiterated that it was not putting its own money into defence companies.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">While its relationship with NextVision would be as a service provider rather than an investor, the bank would nonetheless be going into business with a company whose profits have soared in part due to Israel\u2019s war in Gaza. <\/p>\n<p>Spoils of war<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Founded in 2009, NextVision has enjoyed rapid recent growth thanks to surging demand for its drone parts.
