The Kramatorsk Heavy Machine Tool Plant (KZVV) has developed a new carriage for the towed version of the 155mm Bohdana howitzer. A representative of the KZVV, which produces self-propelled guns, said this in an interview with Defense<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\t “While we were making from the Soviet one, we have already developed a new carriage. In the coming months we will codify it and present it,” said a representative of the company.\n\t<\/p>\n

Currently, the towed version of the Bohdana uses carriages from Soviet 152mm Hyacinth guns. According to a representative of the KZVV, this has allowed for savings on the cost of each howitzer.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t “The gun carriage costs hundreds of thousands of dollars, and the Ministry of Defense warehouses had a bunch of Soviet 152mm towed howitzers lying around without shells. So they decided to take the carriages from there and save the army money on each howitzer. Even now, a number of these Soviet gun carriages remain in the warehouses,” he said.\n\t<\/p>\n

According to a representative of the KZVV, the use of the new carriage will slightly increase the cost of the towed “Bohdana” – it will be about $1.8 million.<\/p>\n

To transport the artillery system, a KrAZ-6322 truck is used, and in some cases, an MT-LB tracked transporter.<\/p>\n
