“The Government will be formed by the Social Democrats. Who the specific person will be, I hope we will have answers by the end of the week,” Sinkevičius told LRT Radio on Monday.

Last week, reports suggested that a cabinet reshuffle could affect ministers including Finance Minister Kristupas Vaitiekūnas, Interior Minister Vladislav Kondratovič, Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys and Culture Minister Vaida Aleknavičienė.

Sinkevičius stressed that drastic changes were not planned.

“There will be some changes, but I want to dispel the rumours about major reshuffles affecting Social Democrat ministers. I am not seeking grand or drastic moves,” he said, adding that only one or two ministers could be replaced.

On Saturday, the council of the Social Democrats (LSDP) decided to reshape the ruling majority by removing the Nemunas Dawn party and opening consultations with the Democrats For Lithuania.

The coalition consisting of the LSDP, the Nemunas Dawn and the political group of the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union and the Christian Families Alliance was established last summer, following the resignation of then Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas in July 2025.
