A number of explosions have been heard in Anderlecht, with locals racing to social media to ask what was going after loud booms were, with helicopters reportedly scrambled and police ‘everywhere’.
A number of people in the Brussels neighbourhood – most famous for its football club – took to X to ask the same question: Porquoi? Or, in English: Why?
One X user said: “Does anyone have any info on what’s happening right now in Anderlecht? There were two massive explosions and gunfire, and now helicopters are out, and the police are everywhere?”
A second added: “Explosion in Anderlecht, for real, what’s going on?”
Police, first responders, and government are yet to share any information on the situation, with queries from nervous Belgians going unanswered in the wake of explosions and reported gunfire.
