Meet you by like 20 seconds We’re already here.
No.
We were just, uh- Oh Kai is just out there running still.

Okay.
can you do like nine outs?
no.
Yeah.
That’s so bad.
Everybody.
I mean, I’ll just do the drills- In here in here, and then- Yes.
Can you like walk me through what you’re doing as you’re doing it?
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
So now I’m about to do s- names.
side to side arm thing.
Side shuffle.
Side shuffle.
For those, for those who don’t work in a gym or- That’s what we all refer to it as anyways.
And then I do karaokes because, I don’t know, they’re fun.
and then I got high knee butt kicks, ’cause, don’t like doing them separately.
That mic.
31.
I lost it again.
Okay.
That’s the last aggressive drill, and that’s the end of my routine that I got from college.

And then I just kinda do random stuff until I feel like I’m ready to run.
So- Starting with, reach downs or something.
Woo.
And then some quad stretches, ’cause why not?
How you feeling for tomorrow?
You feeling good?
Like, what’s the vibe?
I guess let’s kinda talk out, talk out things.
Talk out loud here.
You know, what are your thoughts?
Like, this is actually a more realistic- What are going through my head?
This is a more realistic pre-meet.
It’s just like silence after all of us for 20 minutes.
Yeah, it is.
Like, what goes through your head as you do it?
What do you think about?
What do you, what do you Take me inside your head a little.

I mean, I guess nothing goes through my head during pre-meet, but – As far as the race goes, I’m very excited.
I think, it’ll be nice to race one more time before I get to go home.
Feels like I really earned it.
yeah.
I mean, the mile’s much better than the 15, so that is nice.
The best thing about the mile that’s nicer is like starting on the curve, like everyone can’t go as crazy- Yeah fast.
You know what I mean.
You’ll see it tomorrow.
More will be more crowded coming out.
Yeah, I was gonna say, I feel like there’s more fold off the start there.
Nah.
No one Like, ’cause I think it happens all at once when we’re going slower versus like the 1500 crash is like everyone at top speed, like 100 meters in- Yeah just like- Yeah.

Yeah, it’s a mess.
I think it’ll, it’ll be, it’ll be great.
I was gonna say, when I did this at like Melrose a couple years back, I just treat it as like my inner diary monologue.
Exactly.
Yeah, exactly.
But- I bet you talk a lot more than you usually out loud, though.
You like told the boys you were gonna run like 29, and then you’re like, “Oops, 27.
Sorry.”
Oh, no.
I’m so fit.
Yeah, yeah, no.
Everybody was like, “Well, Jared, cool.”
Jared used to be the pace pirate, and now he’s, now he’s the guy who messes up the paces ’cause he goes too hot.
Oh, no.
Slander.
During the shorter reps, it’s easier for me to be like, “Oh, we’re running like 60.
I can do that.”
Versus like when the rep is like, “Yeah, we’re doing 1K in like 2:27,” I’m like, “That means nothing to me.”
Like I just, I can’t conceptualize that, so then I just usually start too fast and then slow down, and that’s I always hit it in the end, though.
I’m gonna get my spikes.
I didn’t hear back, so I’m gonna check in.
These are the fancy new light sprays.
Why do I, why do I feel like this is like the, what’s the, ASMR?
This is the light spray.
Okay.
I’m gonna go out ’cause Kai’s gonna go out now.
All right.
I’ll be out there soon.
Everyone struggles to get them on, but I got really skinny feet, so I don’t have that issue.

All right.
Outside we go.
Be quick.
Mostly.
Let’s just stride, I think.
Oh.
Need the pickup.
And then I’m going to slowly walk back despite the rain, and do a 200 at what I think race pace might be.
We’ll see how that goes.
Are you guys running like 5K pace?
Or like- No.
Okay.
I’ve got two more strides and then I’m done.
Ah, just a stride.
All right.
Sorry.
Calling it.
Let’s see.
All right.
Let’s get this going.
It’s getting worse.
28.
Calling it.
28.1.
Am I good or am I good?
Don’t take that out of context.
And then we’ll just walk back to the 200.
It was a little windy on that back stretch.
The second 200 is for visualizing the end of the race, so you can be a little quicker.

But you gotta really mentally focus or whatever.
I don’t know.
Do what you want.
All right, that was 26.6, so that was too fast, but it’s okay.
I’m not doing that many strides.
It’s too rainy for all that.
Actually, I’m gonna take refuge for, like, the next 30 seconds.
I do not blame you.
Are you done?
No.
Oh, sick.
I was gonna do, two more hundreds.
Okay, that’s what I thought.
I was like, “I think he was padding his run.”
Okay, that one was slow, ’cause I didn’t know where the hundred was, but that’s okay.
But yeah, now we have last hundred, best hundred.
don’t wanna do anything too crazy.
You know, I gotta save it for the race, but this should be quick.

Once again, visualizing that last hundred meters, how much pain you’re gonna be in.
Embrace suffering or something.
All right, yay, we’re done.
All right, guys, come on.
Four minutes total in the rain.
That’s nothing.
Well, that was pretty neat.
We’ll cool down and then actually be done.
Wanna jog a mile?
Yeah.
Let’s do it.
Just in here, I’m assuming.
No, I was gonna go outside, like, just around the track.
But if you wanna stay in here, we can.
You gotta experience it, yeah.
Okay.
I’ll do at least one lap around, yeah.
Just gotta make sure I don’t say out of pocket stuff.
Try this really crazy political take.
Yeah.

And that is the real end to the warmup.
It was good.
Wow, I can’t believe you convinced him to stay inside.
Yeah.
For a mile.
I’m so impressed.
We picked it up.
All right.
Yay.
Thanks for tuning in.
Actually, I got for you a happy birthday, belated.
Oh, thank you.
what did you do for it?
And, like, obviously you were traveling on the road.
How was it?
Yeah, I mean, it wasn’t, like, awesome.
I was just flying from Stockholm to, or Rabat to Stockholm, like, from 11 to midnight.
I did buy these first class tickets, ’cause they were, like, really cheap, so that was nice.
But it’s like, you know, European first class isn’t the same as, like, American first class, you know?
So, but the food was honestly stunning.
The day after, though, I got, like, some matcha, some chill time.
Just vibed out a little bit.
So this is Yared Neguse, mic’d up.
