EXCLUSIVE: Luxbox has acquired international sales rights to Hungarian director Dénes Nagy’s upcoming film The Vacation ahead of its participation in the Berlinale Co-Production Market next week.
The deal reunites the Paris-based company with Nagy and his longtime producers at Campfilm, after it previously handled sales on his critically acclaimed WW2 drama Natural Light, which won the Berlin Silver Bear for Best Director in 2021.

The Vacation will be among 35 feature films projects looking for finance and partners at the 23rd Berlinale Co-Production Market, running from February 14 to 17.
Set in 2021, the drama follows the emotional journey of Feci, a modest Hungarian cattle farm worker, who joins an organized tour of the South of France with his wife Klara. The trip sees the couple take a plane for the first-time and places them outside of their comfort zone.
A couple, who are more seasoned travellers, takes them under their wing, but on their arrival at Nice airport Feci is forced to quarantine in the hotel due to a mix-up over his Covid test. Excluded from an excursion booked while he was in quarantine, Feci takes a life-changing tour of Provencal monasteries on his own, while Klara sets off with her newfound friends.
The film is produced by Nagy’s longtime producers Sára László, Marcell Gerő at Budapest-based Campfilm, in coproduction with French producer Jean-Laurent Csinidis at Marseille-based Les Films de Force Majeure.
“After the strong collaboration on Natural Light, we are delighted to join once again with Dénes Nagy and the production company Campfilm on The Vacation. The film reveals a new facet of his work, blending his rigorous cinematic language with a discreet and unexpected sense of humor,” said Luxbox CEO Moretti.
Campfilm’s recent credits include Iveta Grófová’s The Hungarian Dressmaker, which premiered at Karlovy Vary and was Slovakia’s 2025 Oscars entry, with other upcoming productions including Marcell Gerő’s feature-length documentary Karsai vs. Hungary.
Nagy is currently gearing up for the launch of his bio-doc Kurtág Fragments, about renowned composer György Kurtág, later this month.
“We are extremely happy to continue our collaboration with Luxbox on Dénes’s new film. While being faithful to his filmmaking style, The Vacation will introduce new elements such as humour and intimacy, bringing in new challenges. Having such strong partners with us gives us a great push forward,’ said Campfilm’s Lászlo and Gero – Campfilm.
