  • 2026-06-12

The good streak of transshipments at TCTenerife continues, and today it is the turn of the ship “Maersk Yorktown”, which is flagged in the U.S., a rare flag at the Tenerife port. It comes from Dakar and will continue its journey to Tangier Med, with the planned operation consisting of loading empty equipment and 275 full containers that were left by the ship “AS Fabiana” on February 7. The consignment is handled by Marítima del Mediterráneo SAU.

Formerly “Safmarine Nimba”, it is a ship built in Stralsund (Germany) and in service since August 2004. Weighing 24,488 gross tons and 28,897 deadweight tons, it measures 195 m in length, 32.20 m in beam, and 11 m in draft. It has a cargo capacity of 2,500 TEUs, of which 340 are refrigerated, and is powered by a Sulzer 9RT-flex60C engine, allowing it to maintain a speed of 19 knots. IMO Code 9289192.
