BERLIN – Police are seeking footage of a vehicle that reportedly evaded a crash in Berlin early Thursday.
The Berlin Police Department said the crash occurred between 12:30 and 1 a.m. Thursday. The vehicle drove off the road on Hudson Street near Westview Terrace, narrowly avoiding a utility pole but striking a guide wire for the pole, as well as terrain and vegetation in the area, according to Berlin police Deputy Chief Drew Gallupe.
The single-vehicle crash caused significant damage to the front of the vehicle, Gallupe said.
According to a post from the department’s Facebook page, officers followed a fluid trail and determined the vehicle traveled on Hudson Street east of Westview Terrace and took a right to go south onto Worthington Ridge. The vehicle then went east on Middletown Road and north on the Berlin Turnpike, police said.
Gallupe said Cromwell police stopped the vehicle shortly after the crash due to the extensive damage. The operator was not injured in the crash, he said.
Police are requesting any footage from the area that either show the crash itself or a vehicle with “obvious front-end damage.”
