The 2026 LEGO Inside Tour set commemorates the first LEGO logo

I’m very honoured that once again, I’m able to have the privilege of sharing the 2026 LEGO Inside Tour set, and this year’s model is a special one steeped in LEGO history and significance. Here’s your very first look at 4000049 Vintage LEGO Logo!

The 2026 LEGO Inside Tour set celebrates the LEGO name itself, with an utterly gorgeous brick-built version of the very first LEGO logo, created by LEGO Group founder Ole Kirk Kristiansen in 1946.

The model actually commemorates a double anniversary, as the name “LEGO” (a combination of two Danish words – “LEG GODT”, meaning “Play Well”) was also created 90 years ago in 1936. Check out this great article on the 90th anniversary of the LEGO name to learn more.

Heads up, LEGO’s June Double Points promo also kicks off today!

If you’re new to LEGO Inside Tour sets, these are some of the most exclusive and hard-to-get LEGO sets as they are created for participants of the LEGO Inside Tour.

The 3-day LEGO Inside Tour is considered one of the ultimate fan experiences where you’re taken behind the curtains of The LEGO Group and embark on a once-in-a-lifetime immersion of the brick. Oh, and attendees will of course receive one of these sets as a memento of their experience.

These sets can go for thousands of dollars on the secondary market as they are incredibly sought-after by collectors, especially as you can only attend ONE Inside Tour your entire life and only a handful are made each year.

I’m extremely pleased every time I receive an email or message from readers who have been successful with their LEGO Inside Tour applications, and today’s images come courtesy of a long-time reader who has chosen to be anonymous, hence the blurring of his set number and group photo on the back of the box.

The model features drum-lacquered gold elements aplenty, and has a drawer that you can pull out to reveal 4 compartments, with printed tiles of LEGO logos from 1936, 1953, 1964, and 1973 when the contemporary LEGO logo was first introduced.

In each drawer are also microbuilds that correspond to those specific milestones when the LEGO logo evolved.

I really love the 2026 LEGO Inside Tour set, mostly because I am extremely passionate about LEGO History. This to me, is such an iconic logo, as many of LEGO’s early wooden toys from 1946-1950 bear this logo, and because its one of only two versions of LEGO’s logo that feature the birthplace of LEGO – Billund, Denmark on it.

Here’s a look at the back of the box, where you can read more about the significance of the LEGO logo and name, and why it was chosen as this year’s Inside Tour set.

There’s also a special significance to the 2026 LEGO Inside Tour set as the model 4000049 Vintage LEGO Logo was designed by Markus Rollbühler, based on the sketch model by Stuart Harris. Stuart Harris is a LEGO Icon, and was the Master Model Builder at LEGO House. He hung by his iconic yellow sneakers earlier this year and has moved on to a different role within The LEGO Group, so this is truly one of final models that he’s worked on.

In case you missed the news, Justin Ramsden is the new Master Model Builder at LEGO House, so hopefully he’ll be involved in future models!

Here’s a look at how LEGO’s logo has evolved over the years.

I developed a personal passion for LEGO’s Wooden Toys after many visits to Billund, getting to see many of LEGO’s early wooden toys in person, but it was only after a visit to the LEGO Idea House, a private museum just for LEGO employees in 2023 did it all click for me.

My journey I’ve been on has since led to me acquiring a number of LEGO Wooden Toys, and here’s a rare look at one of my LEGO Wooden Ducks, a V3 version which is one of my most treasured pieces.

See the original LEGO logo on it? Just stunning.

Would you like to join the LEGO Inside Tour? Anyone I’ve spoken to who has the means to apply and travel to Billund, Denmark has described it as a life-changing once-in-a-lifetime experience. Registrations typically open at the end of the year, so be sure to follow on social or subscribe via email to be notified when 2027 LEGO Inside Tour registrations open!

Check out some of the previous LEGO Inside Tour sets and experiences from past participants!

Also, check out some reactions from 2026 LEGO Inside Tour participants which are starting to surface on social media!
