Police: Owner of two day care centers forged documents to get financial assistance

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (WNYT) — The owner of two local daycares was arrested on felony forgery charges.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said Kristian L. DiCaterino, 54, of Amsterdam, altered a childcare assistance program application. DiCaterino allegedly completed and signing a non-custodial parent form that the applicant had not previously completed or signed.

The documents were then submitted to the Montgomery County Department of Social Services, according to investigators.

DiCaterino owns Sunshine Kids Corner and Memory Lane Daycare, He was charged with two counts of second-degree forgery.

He was released on his own recognizance and is due in court at a later date.
