KONGSBERG Delivers New VTS System for Great Belt VTS in Denmark - News and Statistics

KONGSBERG has finished deploying a fresh Vessel Traffic Services system for Great Belt VTS, aimed at enabling secure and effective vessel movement through one of Europe’s most congested waterways and delivering navigational data to ships transiting the Great Belt Bridge in Denmark.

The Danish Ministry of Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation, known as DALO, awarded the contract. DALO oversees the acquisition, provisioning, upkeep, advancement, and disposal of equipment, IT, and services for Denmark’s military and the Danish Emergency Management Agency.

Great Belt VTS functions in an exceptionally challenging setting. Emphasizing safety and security, the system was engineered to fulfill rigorous operational criteria, encompassing high uptime, backup capabilities, and protected communications.

KONGSBERG supplied Foresight, its proprietary suite of software tools for maritime situational awareness, with custom modifications and developments specifically for Great Belt VTS. The setup links with pre-existing radar and CCTV gear, and KONGSBERG assumes complete accountability for the integration and connection points.

Rune Mortensen, Project Manager at KONGSBERG, indicated that the system is now completely live, with the team offering remote assistance instead of on-location support. He expressed satisfaction that the system is functioning as anticipated during routine operations and acknowledged the productive partnership with the client throughout a rigorous and highly specialized endeavor. He also conveyed appreciation to Great Belt VTS and DALO for their confidence and to all contributors for the project’s achievement.

Alongside the deployment, KONGSBERG will sustain Great Belt VTS via a prolonged Managed Services contract, guaranteeing ongoing operation, dependability, and lifecycle assistance for the foreseeable future.
