August is shaping up to be another month packed with new LEGO sets, and LEGO just revealed another one: the LEGO Ideas La Catrina (21372) celebrates the “Day of the Dead,” which is deeply rooted in Mexican culture, and it’s available for pre-order now at LEGO.com and from retailers.
The set consists of 1,212 pieces, is aimed specifically at adult LEGO fans as is now typical for Ideas, and will hit shelves on August 1, 2026 for an RRP of $139.99 / €119.99 – just in time for the Day of the Dead, which is traditionally celebrated on November 2. The set is already listed and available for pre-order at LEGO.com, and the first other retailers are listing it as well.

General Info About the Set
The LEGO Ideas La Catrina (21372) comes from the first review phase of 2025, in which the production of six different sets was confirmed at the time. La Catrina is now the second officially revealed set from this wave, following the LEGO E.T. (21370), which was announced a few days ago.
Once built, La Catrina stands about 43 cm (16.9 in) tall, 29 cm (11.4 in) wide, and 18 cm (7.1 in) deep. This isn’t the first take on La Catrina that LEGO has released in recent years. The character first appeared back in 2021 as a BrickHeadz – exactly five years after the BrickHeadz release, the big buildable La Catrina now arrives as an Ideas set. In between, a minifigure was also released for the Mexican Day of the Dead, appearing in the “Build a Minifigure” lineup in 2022.
As far as we can tell from the images, the set uses no stickers. The 2 × 2 round tiles that decorate the elegant skeleton’s dress are printed, and the 1 × 1 tiles for the earrings come from the LEGO Icons Black Pearl as pirate coins. A nice detail on La Catrina is her jaw, as the teeth are recreated using white minifigure neck brackets and the jawbones with white boomerangs.

Comparison with the LEGO Ideas Submission
The La Catrina submission comes from fan designer yop1172 and reached the required 10,000 supporters in April 2025, before LEGO officially selected the set for production in October. So you can get a quick sense of how the two versions compare, we’ve placed them side by side here. What stands out is that both the size and color of the figure were completely changed. Originally there was a lot of orange, but the set now leans more heavily on black with colorful details. The submission at the time called for a height of nearly 35.4 in (90 cm), which the final 16.9 in (43 cm) comes in at about half of.

Once again, Billund is putting out an Ideas set aimed at reaching a specific market. While the Day of the Dead originally comes from Mexico, it’s now celebrated not only across large parts of South America but also in numerous regions of the US where the Hispanic population is dense.
