SpongeBob is coming back to LEGO! The LEGO Icons 11386 Bikini Bottom set revealed today features SpongeBob himself, his best friend Patrick, and their perpetually annoyed neighbor Squidward in their respective homes, along with a ton of accessories and countless nods to the animated series that’s beloved by kids and adults alike. We’re showing you the set with all the official images.
On Conch Street, SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward live right next to each other – much to the delight of the first two and the despair of the last one. While Patrick Star, the starfish, literally lives under a rock, the octopus Squidward Tentacles has a house resembling a Moai statue, and the show’s protagonist, SpongeBob SquarePants, occupies a fancy pineapple. These three buildings form the centerpiece of the set, which we’ll now take a closer look at. The LEGO SpongeBob set is available at LEGO.com starting September 1, 2026 and can already be pre-ordered.
Fun fact: The set’s reveal happening today of all days is no coincidence. In one of the series’ episodes, SpongeBob shows his driver’s license, which lists July 14, 1986, as his date of birth. That means the sponge is celebrating his 40th birthday today (in the show’s universe)! In reality, the series first aired in 1999.
General info on the new LEGO SpongeBob set
Conch Street in the form of the LEGO 11386 Bikini Bottom set comprises 1,794 pieces, for which LEGO is asking an RRP of $219.99 / £189.99 / €209.99. In addition to the three main characters SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward as minifigures (plus Gary as a built snail), the homes of these three characters are included, as well as a car like the one SpongeBob drives in driving school, for example. A Bikini Bottom town sign, SpongeBob’s bubble-blowing stand from the second episode, and a suggestion of the Jellyfish Fields, where Patrick and SpongeBob spend a good chunk of their free time jellyfishing, establish further ties to the show’s storylines – a fitting net is of course included as well. As a quirky built side character, DoodleBob including his magic pencil appears in the set, too.
On and inside the buildings, which are open at the back, there are numerous other details and references to discover. For instance, Patrick’s furnishings mostly consist of sand, just as it’s usually shown in the series. In SpongeBob’s bedroom, alongside the diving board over his bed, we spot his (extremely jarring) alarm clock made from an old ship’s horn. In the living room stand the TV housed in a repurposed diving bell, the shell phone, and the comfy armchair made from bath supplies.
At Squidward’s place, who prefers things a bit more refined – or should we say “highbrow” – we find his four-poster bed, the bathtub with pink foam, and his self-portrait “Bold and Brash” (sadly little appreciated by Monty P. Moneybags). His clarinet and music stand can’t be missing, of course.
For the graphic designs, LEGO relies on some printed parts, but mainly on various stickers. The 18+ set doesn’t herald a revival of a standalone theme at LEGO, but rather appears as part of the LEGO Icons line with the matte-black box that’s typical of it.

Images of the source material
The houses of Patrick, Squidward, and SpongeBob (left to right) on Conch Street
For those of you who don’t know the series that well or don’t remember it anymore, we’d like to provide a few screenshots of scenes and details that likely served as the basis for the design of the LEGO SpongeBob set. Above you see the three houses; in the following gallery, images of furnishing details, the driving school car, the bubble-blowing stand, and of course DoodleBob.
Earlier LEGO versions of the same source material
LEGO has released sets based on the same source material before. In 2006, the LEGO 3827 Adventures in Bikini Bottom came out first, consisting of 579 pieces and therefore falling far short of the level of detail of today’s version.
The minifigures were also designed differently, since Squidward, for example, didn’t get a special head piece and Patrick didn’t have a belly yet. On the other hand – it was after all a 7+ set – great emphasis was placed on the play functions. The car had a pull-back motor, there were several launching functions for jellyfish and basketballs, as well as a function that flung SpongeBob out of his bed when you pulled on his alarm clock.
In 2012, six years later, came the LEGO 3818 Bikini Bottom Undersea Party, which consisted of just 471 pieces, meaning Patrick’s “house,” for example, had to be dropped. On the plus side, Squidward now had a fitting head. Additionally, Mrs. Puff, the driving instructor, was included as another minifigure, though this time without the matching car, since the focus of the 6+ set was on the party.
By the way, both sets also included the snail Gary, SpongeBob’s pet, which back then was already built very similarly to today’s version, with LEGO cherries as eyestalks and printed dishes as the snail’s shell.
Another new set: LEGO BrickHeadz SpongeBob 40858
For the sake of completeness, we’d like to quickly point out one more set that’s also coming out on September 1, 2026 as part of the SpongeBob theme at LEGO and that can already be pre-ordered. The LEGO BrickHeadz SpongeBob (40858) comprises 72 pieces, has the now-standard RRP of $12.99 / £10.99 / €12.99, and bears the sequential BrickHeadz number 328.
Conclusion
SpongeBob still has plenty of fans worldwide – always among adults too, mainly thanks to the sometimes very offbeat humor of the series. Some aspects have even permanently entered pop culture, such as the transition cards where phrases like “A few minutes later…” were delivered in a French accent, which still turn up practically constantly as memes on the internet today. Accordingly, the excitement about this set should be huge internationally – a set that essentially picks up what earlier sets in the line at LEGO had already shown, but thanks to its larger scope with considerably more details and references than was previously the case.
For just under 1,800 pieces, the RRP is once again a hefty one, but since the set is really lovingly designed, it’s a bit easier to swallow. We’re curious which references you’ve spotted and look forward to your comments on the matter!
How do you like the upcoming LEGO SpongeBob 11386 Bikini Bottom set? Have all the little details won you over, or are you more critical of the design? Which references are you most excited about? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments! Are you ready, kids? Aye-aye, Captain!
