An Amsterdam, New York woman pleads guilty to the charge of Attempted Bank Fraud after various incidents, including one in Johnson City.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office, Nikki Vancuren pled guilty on July 7th. She admitted to using fake passport cards to withdraw or attempt to withdraw money from other peoples’ accounts across the state.
This occurred over several months in 2022 and 2023. One of these occurred on January 19, 2023 when she presented a fake passport card showing identifying information for another person and tried to withdraw $4,000 from an NBT bank in Johnson City.
Sentencing is set for early November. Vancuren faces up to 30 years of imprisonment, a fine up to $1 million, and a term of supervised release up to five years.
