“Some of the initial information, there was over 100 people here at the park. At some point there was a shootout between different groups,” said Julian Wiser, Sheriff of Madison County, indicating that the violence may have been gang-related.
A shooting at Savannah Williamson Park in Denmark has left multiple people dead and more injured.
Sheriff Wiser told 39 News what authorities know so far.
“Last night, about 10:40 p.m., Madison County Sheriff’s Department received a call of shots fired in the area of 152 Neely Station Road, which is Savannah Williamson Park. We collected a high volume of shell casings from different calibers to include rifles,” said Sheriff Wiser.
Videos on social media show multiple cars coming to Jackson Madison County General Hospital transporting victims of the shooting.
The MCSO, JPD, and other agencies combed the park for shell casings and other evidence

“There was approximately 12 individuals that got shot. 2 were deceased here on the scene. 1 was transported to the local hospital and pronounced dead there. [The] majority of the victims were transported by personal vehicle to the hospital, and that caused a major scene at the hospital,” said Sheriff Wiser.
Sheriff Wiser indicated the MCSO is looking over video footage of the shooting to try and find suspects.
“We are lucky we got a camera at this part that has five cameras with different views. That information and videos is being gone through right now. We don’t have a whole lot on suspect information as far as names or who we’re looking for.”
This is an ongoing investigation, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.
