AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (WNYT) — Amsterdam Police said an 18-year-old was arrested after officers investigating a handgun threat found a loaded stolen gun on him.

The Amsterdam Police Department said officers responded around 5:17 p.m. July 24 to a menacing complaint involving a handgun at Sirchia Park. Police said several people were later found near Division Street in Amsterdam.

Police said Eciraum N. Weeks, 18, of Amsterdam, was found with a loaded handgun that had been reported stolen in North Carolina and had a defaced serial number. A second loaded handgun was recovered from another person whose identity was withheld because of age.

Weeks was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of stolen property and criminal possession of a firearm, rifle or shotgun in a sensitive location.

He was also charged with second-degree menacing and evading arrest by concealment of identity. Weeks was arraigned in Amsterdam City Court and sent to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.
