What’s the most boy crazy city in the world? Many people will have their own answers, but you could make a strong case that it’s Berlin. Its thriving nightlife and fashion scenes have become an epicentre for queer culture, which is why LA brand Boycrazy chose the city for its latest fashion link-up. Founded during the COVID-19 pandemic by photographer Jaden Walker, the brand is known for reinterpreting famous typography for its own ends, like its ‘Spit’ ribbed vest which riffs on the Sprite logo, or redesigning Gap’s iconic hoodie to read ‘FAG’ instead. “It’s supposed to be lighthearted and cute,” Walker told us in 2023. “It’s a silly brand.”
This weekend, to coincide with Berlin Pride, Boycrazy made the trip across the Atlantic for a raucous block party, taking over a street corner in Schöneberg with Reference Studios for drinks, DJs and a pop-up full of archive pieces. As one might expect from a Boycrazy block party, the looks all skated on the scuzzier side, with double stacked boxers and sagging pants, cargo jorts and studded belts, while practically everyone else was rocking a ‘FAG’ hoodie. Elsewhere, the pop-up was selling exclusive new tees, and those proved popular too, with many opting for the ‘You suck/Do you swallow?’ slogan vest, but most just going completely shirtless to show off their tattoos. What else would you expect from a boy crazy crowd?
