The King of Denmark and other Bugatti drivers have a very special set to look forward to: the LEGO Bugatti Type 35. Images of the blue classic car have been floating around the web for a few weeks now, and we now know for certain that the set won’t be hitting stores. Instead, it was released in tiny numbers for a special event.

Following the LEGO Inside Tour Set 2026, this is already the second limited set that could spark some serious cravings. Here you’ll find out what the LEGO Bugatti looks like, who got their hands on one, and which special parts make it impossible to recreate.

LEGO 4000048 Bugatti Type 35

So beautiful, and yet so out of reach! At first glance, the new LEGO Bugatti Type 35 might look like the next LEGO Icons vehicle, but the seven-digit set number 4000048 already hints that this isn’t your typical 18+ collector’s piece. That’s because only 250 units of this special LEGO Bugatti were produced, and they never officially went on sale. Instead, they were handed out to the participants of the 26th International Bugatti Meeting, which took place in Denmark this year.

The Bugatti Type 35 is built in Dark Azur and nicely captures the long, drawn-out shape of the iconic original. The set’s 1,592 pieces don’t just go into recreating the body with its horseshoe grille, but also into the massive baseplate with cobblestone paving—something you won’t find in official sets like the LEGO Icons Jaguar. Another standout feature is the 3D-printed rims for this run limited to 250 units. While LEGO has already experimented with 3D printing in regular retail sets, it’s never been so prominent in a model before.

Exclusive parts for a special model

On top of the wheels, several other exclusive parts make a recreation with your own pieces even harder, like the leather strap for the spare tire and the Metallic Silver elements in the cockpit. In numerous spots you can spot part-and-color combinations that have never been used in any other model, and the printed elements for the dashboard and info plaque would trip you up too.

One particularly creative use of parts is the LEGO Star Wars Inquisitor lightsaber hilt, which is used as the round hood ornament on the grille.

There are also a few Technic functions hidden under the Bugatti’s hood. The car has eight moving cylinder pistons, steering, and even a suggested LEGO Technic gearshift.

Bugatti meeting at the LEGO House with a royal visit

The highlight of the International Bugatti Meeting in Denmark was a stopover at the LEGO House in Billund on June 22, 2026, where 80–100 vintage Bugattis from the 1920s and 1930s parked in front of the Home of the Brick. At this special gathering under gorgeous weather, the LEGO personalities Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen (grandson of LEGO’s founder) and Niels B. Christiansen (CEO of the LEGO Group) showed up—as did King Frederik X of Denmark. LEGO employee Hasan Jensen shared a few snapshots on his Instagram:

Instructions for the LEGO Bugatti?

LEGO created a real, printed instruction booklet for the Bugatti Type 35, but so far it hasn’t made its way out of the exclusive circle of the 250 lucky owners of this special set. Because of all the exclusive parts, a 1:1 recreation would be impossible anyway, but you might still be able to build the car somehow with a few compromises.

The photos from Christopher Rheault, one of the participants, could help with that. He built his limited LEGO Bugatti—as it should be—and shared detail shots of the build.

For now, we’ll have to make do with the official Bugatti sets like the LEGO Speed Champions 77253 Bugatti Vision GT Hyper Sports Car or the LEGO Technic 42222 Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport Hypercar, and hope that this classic car might eventually show up as an official LEGO Icons vehicle after all.

What do you think of this special LEGO Bugatti Type 35 set? Would you like to see this classic car as an official Icons vehicle from LEGO too? Feel free to share your thoughts on this limited model in the comments!
