The NASA has announced unprecedented live coverage for the upcoming total solar eclipse that will take place on August 12. This celestial phenomenon promises to darken the sky over major regions of the northern hemisphere, and the space agency is prepared to broadcast every detail.

Live Coverage of the Total Solar Eclipse

The astronomical event, visible in its full splendor across Greenland, Iceland, and Spain, will also be partially visible in parts of Russia and northeastern Portugal. The NASA will offer a high-definition broadcast through NASA+, its television channel, and social media platforms, ensuring that a global audience can enjoy the eclipse regardless of their geographical location.

The path of totality of the eclipse will begin in the Arctic areas of Greenland, moving across the North Atlantic and covering Iceland, including its capital. Subsequently, the shadow will shift towards the Iberian Peninsula in Spain, which will become a central observation point in Europe.

For those outside the path of totality, the eclipse will be partially visible in wide areas of Europe, North Africa, and North America. Near the Icelandic coasts, the eclipse will reach its maximum duration of two minutes and fourteen seconds.

According to NASA’s official statement, high-precision telescopes and other specialized equipment will be deployed along the path of the lunar shadow. Astronomers will be present to offer detailed explanations about the dynamics of the solar corona during the event.

Additionally, NASA will integrate data collected by research aircraft and stratospheric balloons, which will measure thermal and atmospheric variations during the eclipse. This information will enrich the scientific understanding of the phenomenon.

The agency warns about the importance of using ISO 12312-2 certified solar viewers to observe the eclipse safely, as conventional sunglasses do not provide the necessary protection against potential eye damage.
