Prince Nikolai of Denmark has spent part of his summer exploring the Greek islands alongside the two people closest to him; his younger brother, Prince Felix, and longtime girlfriend Benedikte Thoustrup reports HELLO magazine.
The 26-year-old, the eldest son of Prince Joachim of Denmark, shared highlights from the holiday on social media, offering followers a glimpse of crystal-clear waters, dramatic coastlines, boat excursions, spectacular sunsets and traditional Greek cuisine.
“Reunion in Greece, hope you’re enjoying summer!” Nikolai wrote, accompanying a series of photographs that captured the trio enjoying the Mediterranean sunshine while Denmark experienced an unusually warm summer at home.
Nikolai, who has built a successful international modelling career alongside his royal background, appeared relaxed throughout the trip. Joining him was his younger brother, Prince Felix, who celebrated his 24th birthday on July 22, and Benedikte Thoustrup, Nikolai’s longtime partner.
The holiday highlighted the close relationship between the two brothers, who have often spoken about their strong family bond despite their different personalities.
Felix previously reflected on their relationship in the documentary Nikolai, explaining that he has no desire to follow his brother’s path in the fashion industry.
“I prefer to stay a little more low-key. Nikolai is very good at what he does as a model. I have to admit that’s not exactly my thing,” Felix said.
He added: “I really admire his ability to be so outgoing all the time. I can’t imagine what it must take to always be ‘on.’ I have deep respect for what he does—the responsibility he takes on, and he carries it off beautifully.”
The Greek getaway also underscored how naturally Benedikte has become part of the brothers’ close-knit relationship after several years with Nikolai.
While the social media posts focused on Greece, other members of the Danish royal family did not appear in the photographs. Danish media have speculated that the brothers could next travel to the family’s traditional summer retreat, the Château de Cayx in France.
Queen Margrethe II and her late husband, Prince Henrik, purchased the historic estate in 1974. Located in France’s Lot region, the château has served as the Danish royal family’s summer residence for decades and is also home to vineyards that produce AOC Cahors wines served at royal banquets and state occasions.
For now, however, Greece once again proved to be the destination of choice for European royalty, with Prince Nikolai’s latest holiday offering another reminder of the enduring appeal of the country’s islands and summer lifestyle.
