“We’re so thankful for this [blessing box]. It’s been an awesome experience from the first time we received it in May,” said Shannon Davis, Principal of Denmark Elementary School.
The blessing box has been up for a while, but the dedication today made it official.

“The blessing box is for the whole community. If you’re in need of something, you can take. If you want to give something you can give,” said Cynthis Miller Chandler, the Vice President of the Denmark-West Alumni Association (DWAA)
The DWAA was excited to dedicate and pray over the blessing box at Denmark Elementary this morning. In addition to the box Miller Chandler told 39 News that students are receiving bags and school supplies.
“About 48 backpacks. It’s everything from glue, scissors, crayons, dry erasers. They’ve got a nice little gift bag,” said Miller Chandler.

Principal Davis said she is excited to see families using the box to donate and receive.
“This summer, I saw it meant that a lot of families were coming to donate food once we put it on social media, and then families were coming to receive the food. So I think it gives back to the community, but also gives the community the opportunity to give, to receive something that they may be in need of,” said Principal Davis.
Principal Davis said this box helps bring some positivity back to the Denmark community after the tragic mass shooting at Savannah Williamson Park.

“We are definitely saddened by the loss here in the Denmark community, but we are also thankful that we have community organizations that are here to bring our community back to a positive stance,” said Principal Davis.
Representatives from the DWAA and the school hope this box can truly be a blessing to the community.
